Job Summary:
Under the supervision of the HomeCare Rehabilitation Supervisor, organizes and administers prescribed physical therapy programs to reduce and/or prevent disability and to assist patients in achieving maximum functional potential.
Job Responsibilities:
- Evaluates and treats patients as prescribed by referring physician.
- Reviews physician's referral and patient's condition and medical records to determine physical therapy treatment required.
- Tests and measures patient's strength, motor development, sensory perception, functional capacity, and respiratory and circulatory efficiency, and records findings to develop/revise treatment program.
- Plans and prepares written treatment plan based on evaluation of patient data with realistic, objective, long and short-term goals and time frame.
- Routinely confers with physician and other practitioners in person, by phone, or in writing, regarding progress, regression or change of plan.
- Orients, instructs, and directs assistants, aides and students.
- Includes participation in hospital orientation and departmental and community inservice education and programs as directed.
- Assists with the planning and implementation of new programs.
Education and Experience Requirements:
- Degree and graduate from an accredited school of physical therapy required.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
- Uses common sense and special medical skills to care for the sick or handicapped.
- Identifies and acts on priorities for smooth departmental operations.
- Maintains discretion in handling confidential nature of information available.
- Keeps up to date on trends and developments in the field of physical medicine and health services.
