ABOUT THE ROLE:
Day One Tech STEM is looking for activity guides (Mentors) to support an innovative pilot after-school program that blends STEM with specialized support for students receiving special education services, especially those with ADHD and other neurodivergent needs.

This is a powerful opportunity to work hands-on with elementary-aged youth (10–15 per class), creating culturally responsive, trauma-informed learning spaces that help children thrive. Our work is tech-forward, gamified, and rooted in ancestral STEM practices reimagined for today.
WHO WE’RE LOOKING FOR:
We’re hiring people with experience in Special Education and/or working with ADHD.

Our ideal candidate:
- Has lived experience growing up in the underserved communities we serve
-Is consistent, reliable, and passionate about making change
-Has experience or interest in SPED, ADHD, and neurodivergent learners
-Brings positive energy, patience, and creative thinking
-Is available 2–4 days a week after school (with flexibility)
-Has access to transportation (preferred but not required)
-If you do not have Special Education Experience, other after-school/during-school projects may be available.
Responsibilities
- Provide mentorship and support to students in STEM classes, focusing on those with special education needs.
-Implement engaging lesson plans that cater to diverse learning styles.
-Foster a positive and inclusive classroom environment through effective behavior management techniques.
-Collaborate with other educators and staff to ensure the success of all students.
-Monitor student progress and provide feedback to parents and guardians.
-Maintain a safe and nurturing atmosphere while promoting personal growth and development.
-Follow our gamified classroom systems

Job Type: Part-time
Pay: $24.45 - $26.83 per hour
