Job Summary
This position will conduct System Safety analysis in accordance with the latest version of MIL-STD-882, Army Aviation and Missile Command (AMCOM) 385-17, and applicable standards per government direction. The Principal Systems Safety Engineer is responsible for maintaining a safety assignment throughout a program's life cycle and collaborating with various disciplines.
Job Responsibilities
Responsible for technical activity and completion of assigned task on time and budgetDesign, develop, analyze, document and support testing of products, systems, or subsystemsAttend classified and unclassified test events and discuss safety measures between partner companies and customersCommunicate with subcontractors and understand the requirements being flown downEnsure all systems comply with MIL-STD-882E or other applicable government standardsCapture and document safety analysis and findings in the form of Systems Safety Program Plan (SSPP) and Safety Assessment Report (SAR)Review engineering changes / mishaps and confirm all design changes are thoroughly incorporated into the systemAssess and track mitigation of software and firmware related hazardsCommunicate clearly (written and oral) with other company personnel and the customer as requiredWork with other disciplines to ensure the customer needs are metMay provide technical knowledge and assistance to other engineers and support personnelSupport, communicate, reinforce, and defend the mission, values and culture of the organizationAttend appropriate engineering, customer or business meetingsQualifications
Bachelor's Degree in Engineering or related technical fieldAt least 2 years of Systems Safety Engineering experience with DoD contractsStrong analytical and organizational traits to develop system safety skillset and effectively support the customerProficient in technical writing to assist with the preparation of reports of complex systemsProficiency in the use of Microsoft Office productsAbility to obtain a Department of Defense (DoD) Secret Clearance is requiredAbility to travel to support program events (tests, program reviews, etc.) and training activities 20% of the timeU.S. Citizenship required. This position requires an active DOD security clearance or the ability to obtain such clearance within a reasonable time after commencement of employment.Employment Pre-requisites
