Designer, Architectural 3, MHG

We’re looking for a full-time, Architectural Designer

to join our Mason and Hanger team located in either Virginia Beach, VA.

Position Summary: Highly skilled production role with significant role in project development and documentation. Assumes project-wide production responsibilities on medium to large-scale projects under the direction of a supervising licensed Architect.

Principle Accountabilities:

• Creating and editing drawings (CAD / BIM). Design coordination with other disciplines.
• Marking-up and redlining drawings for others.
• Quantity take-offs and cost estimate preparation.
• Coordinate construction submittals, RFI's, contractor questions, and issues.
• Design coordination with other disciplines.
• Perform other duties supporting senior Architecture staff, as assigned.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

• Highly proficient with department-specific production software platforms (AutoCAD, Revit, Microstation, AECOSim). Commanding understanding of CAD & Drafting standards as well as CAD project setup. Ability to read and understand building drawings.
• Understands the architectural department design process and standards. Can functionally apply knowledge of code and client standards to advance project documentation. Works to produce and document implementation of sound architectural principles on project deliverables.
• Able to function as a client-facing representative of the architectural department. Responsible for coordination of work with other disciplines, internally and externally, proactively ensuring design is constructible and resolving issues identified in clash detection processes. Coordinates and communicates with other architects, engineers, and project managers both internally and externally. Supports contract administration.
• Gaining competency in all areas of departmental project responsibilities. Developing competency in editing specifications and independently producing project construction document requirements.
• Builds trusted relationships within the department through maintaining ownership of assigned work and delivering efficient and high-quality results. Expected to be a proactive learner, responsible for seeking support when needed, identifying expectations, checking own work output against quality expectations, and pursuing opportunities to grow technical capabilities. Maintains professional humility and respect in partnership with all team members in pursuit of overall project success.

Qualifications:

High School, GED, or Technical Associates Degree

8-12 years of design experience.

Ability to obtain security clearance

In compliance with this state’s pay transparency laws, the salary range for this role is $76-080 - $114,120. This is not a guarantee of compensation or salary, as final offer amount may vary based on factors including but not limited to experience and geographic location. (The specific programs and options available to an employee may vary depending on date of hire, schedule type, and the applicability of collective bargaining agreements).
