Summary
The Student Pastor will have the responsibility for the development, promotion and coordination of the entire student ministry of Daybreak. Responsibility is inclusive of Middle School (grades 5-8) and High School (grades 9-12). It is this person’s function to see that these groups grow both spiritually and numerically.
Purpose
Daybreak Students exists for the purpose of introducing students to the Gospel in a culturally acceptable manner and then building into them the necessary disciplines to become maturing disciples of Jesus Christ.
Qualifications
Personal
- committed to Christian living, orthodox doctrine, and the Wesleyan Church beliefs
- agreement with the doctrinal statement of the Wesleyan Church /Daybreak
- humble, flexible and teachable
- skilled to communicate with all groups in the scope of his/her ministry
- represents Daybreak and his/her ministry appropriately through physical appearance
- be an inspiring “can do” leader who leads with a positive spirit
Leadership
- responsible to develop adult and student leadership initiatives and teams
- commitment to evangelism and discipleship personally and professionally
- understands balance between delegation and ownership of ministry responsibilities
- development of new and existing volunteer team
- exhibits understanding of how each part fits into the overall scope of Daybreak ministry
- develop and sustain rhythms of ministry through weekly programming and events
- follow up systems and strategies for new and existing students/families
- maintaining up to date record keeping and data
- management of Daybreak Students' budget
- expectation of regular speaking at Daybreak Students Sunday night gathering
- continued development of small groups of students/leaders
Ministry Emphasis
- serving trips and opportunities
- Bible engagement in students and their families
- summer and seasonal experiences (NTS Camp, retreats, trips, etc)
- campus involvement and focus individually and as a ministry
Other expectations
- strategic involvement in local, regional and national ministry networks
- participation in ministry leadership outside of assigned areas as needed
- integration of overall Bible engagement emphasis and systems
- involvement in pastoral responsibilities as needed (calls and crisis moments)
- participation in the Daybreak Pastors and Director teams
