SECURITY SUMMARY: |

Security is responsible for monitoring the security of the Daybreak grounds and facility and for implementing the security, weapons, visitation and violence policies in conjunction with the Daybreak staff. Also reference Safety Manual. |
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned: |
Provides continuous staffing of the front desk in the reception area (except for planned breaks, emergency calls, etc.). If the officer is away from the desk, secure the desk area so that visitors may not enter. Monitors the cameras and takes a proactive role of notifying appropriate staff and working with staff to investigate any suspicious or questionable activity that is observed. Issues panic alarms for staff and keeps track of which area the panic alarm is located so that a timely response to an alarm is possible. Investigates alarms and panics that sound and notifies appropriate staff regarding the nature of the alarm. Completes a log of all visitors, notifies staff of visitors so that they may be greeted by staff and escorted to their appointment or group. Completes a log of volunteers and issues and records volunteer badges at entry and exit. Records such issuance of visitor tags including time, date and name of the visitor as well as the time the visitor leaves and the tag is returned. Checks identification, checks belongings and monitors clients and others, as needed, prior to entering the facility. Confiscates and tags contraband as outlined in the relevant policies and follows the practices outlined for notification of staff, storage, or transportation of the contraband to staff in the building. Adheres to and has knowledge of the procedures, protocols and practices of relevant policies including security, visitation, weapons, violence, drug policy, safety manual etc. Participates in drills and works with staff to develop safety plans. Completes training as assigned by Daybreak. Follows staff directives regarding interacting with clients on site. Acts to protect the security of the facility and staff by contacting police when necessary and follows all police directives when they are present on site. Must always maintain a professional demeanor, including professional boundaries with staff, clients, and visitors (i.e. no smoking with clients or visitors, no personal disclosure or "chatting" with clients or visitors). Maintains the office area in an orderly manner. Assists the agency in managing security for special event, if applicable Contributes to neighborhood relations and the positive reputation and credibility of the agency by adhering to the strictest professional and ethical standards. |

Models professional behavior and actively contributes in a positive manner and demonstrates constructive positive problem-solving strategies and openness to others' opinions. Refrains from engaging in dual-relationships or any other ethical boundary with clients to ensure and protect client's rights and consults with supervisor when there might be a risk of these situations, where applicable. Refrains from engaging in negative or counterproductive behaviors and attitudes and strives to keep the well-being of co-workers and clients at the forefront. Demonstrates appreciation, understanding and trust in the work of his/her colleagues. Attends training/agency meetings, as scheduled. Responsible for completing all required trainings needed to comply with Daybreak policy. Maintains appropriate in-service training hours by attending conferences, workshops and training that are relevant to the job description and assignment tasks. Adheres to and upholds agency's Mission, Core Values, attendance policies and procedures and maintain and contribute to positive customer relations-both internally and externally (clients, staff, vendors, donors.) Attends All-Staff meetings each year Drives Daybreak vehicles, when necessary, where applicable. |

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE |

High School diploma or general education degree (GED) plus 5 years' related experience. or AA plus 2 years' related experience or BA. |

It is the policy of Daybreak to ensure that the facility is in compliance with all license requirements and that all employees are fit for duty. Once a conditional offer of employment has been given, Daybreak requires that all prospective employees sign a background check release form and pass pre-employment testing before a start date may be given.
Background Check
Daybreak is required by State of Ohio law to perform a criminal background check, which includes fingerprinting, of eligible applicants. In addition to the fingerprints, Daybreak requires the following additional background checks.

Pre-employment Testing
The following pre-employment tests will be conducted at Daybreak's expense. Tests include:
- A tuberculin skin test or chest x-ray (by a physician of Daybreak's choosing)
- A urine drug screening (by a testing facility of Daybreak's choosing)
Should the pre-employment reviews indicate that the prospective employee does not meet the employment requirements, Daybreak has the option of either not hiring the person or postponing employment until the condition prohibiting employment has been removed.
If the background or pre-employment checks contain information that the applicant has committed, been convicted of, or pleaded guilty to any criminal offense, unless the charge was a minor misdemeanor not involving violence or a sexual offense at least 5 years old, or if the applicant refuses to submit fingerprints for a criminal background check, the conditional offer of employment will be withdrawn immediately.
Pursuant to SB 38 (child-serving agency), if it is determined that the applicant has committed one of the disqualifying events listed on the attached Ohio Revised Code Disqualifier sheet may prevent employment at Daybreak.
