This position is responsible for planning and implementing a comprehensive school counseling and behavioral support program that includes preventative and responsive services while fostering student academic, career, and social-emotional development. This position is to enhance our Covid support initiatives.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

- Identify student needs and provide direct student services.
- Provide structured presentations to students and families concerning target areas of assessment that define individual strengths and provide resources to help develop academic and career success.
- Identify and monitor students’ educational, career, and post-secondary goals and customize programs to support those objectives.
- Plan, organize and deliver the School Counseling Program as required by local, state and federal laws and procedures.
- Coordinate with families, teachers, administration, support staff and community agencies to address the varied needs of students.
- Provide counseling services to individuals and small groups that relate to physical, emotional, and educational well being.
- Use data to develop strategies to positively impact students.
- Prepare and maintain records and reports as required by policy and law.
- Maintain professional growth through school-based and other professional development programs.
- Use technology in classroom and/or parent presentations.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS
- Knowledge of personal-social, academic, and career theories and practices.
- Knowledge of federal and state laws related to student education.
- Ability to communicate effectively with all stakeholders in written and oral form, including electronic media.
- Ability to establish and maintain collaborative working relationships with all stakeholders.
- Ability to facilitate the problem-solving process including using data to inform stakeholders and bring groups to consensus in a variety of settings and situations.
- Ability to organize, prioritize, manage, and carry out responsibilities efficiently and within designated time frames.
- Operating knowledge of computer programs, including email, word processing, spreadsheets, and databases.
EDUCATION, TRAINING & EXPERIENCE
- Master’s degree from an accredited institution in the field of Guidance and Counseling, School Counseling, or related field
OR
- Master’s degree from an accredited institution with a major in counseling other than school counseling that includes a minimum of 600 clock hours of supervised internship with school-aged children and their families with at least 9 semester hours of graduate credit as defined in Florida Department of Education Rule 6A-4.0181
- Valid Florida Educator’s Certificate in Guidance and Counseling or School Counseling PK-12
- 2-3 years school counseling experience
