What are the responsibilities and job description for the Paraprofessional Substitute position at Dayton Area School Consortium?
Position Purpose
This will be a Substitute, Para-professional position that provides instructional and behavioral support in grades Kindergarten, 1st and 4th. You will work with the teachers to provide instructional activities and work on meeting the goals of students. This position will approximately begin on March 4 and continue until the end of May. Prior to the start of this position, paid, subbing opportunities are available to help get aquainted with staff and students. Additional Duties:
- Monitor students at lunch and recess.
- Perform any other related duties as assigned.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
- Ability to carry out instructions furnished in written or oral form.
- Ability to add, subtract, perform arithmetic operations and provide reading support as needed to assist students primarily in Grades Kindergarten and 1st.
- Ability to understand, apply and use technology and software applications for instructional and commucation purposes.
- Ability to work with a diverse group of individuals.
- Ability to maintain confidentiality of information regarding students, employees and others.
- Ability to establish a supportive and compassionate relationship with students.
- Ability to establish and maintain cooperative working relationships with students, staff and others contacted in the course of work.
- Effective writing and verbal communication skills.
Physical and Mental Demands, Work Hazards
- Works in standard office and school building environments.
- Ability to work outdoors during outdoor student activities.
Qualifications Profile
- High School diploma or equivalent.
- Prior experience working with children in a school setting desirable.
