What are the responsibilities and job description for the ELA Teacher (9-12 Grade) 2024-2025 School Year position at Dayton Business Technology High School?
Purpose: To plan, organize, implement, and evaluate appropriate instructional programs within your area of assignment that guide and encourage students to develop their abilities as they mature and function within society. It is the expectation of Dayton Business Technology High School; all teachers will work with fellow staff members to form a cooperative unit focused upon providing students with needed educational outcomes while understanding and addressing their unique personal situations. This position reports to and is evaluated by the Director and/or designee.
Qualifications:
· Current Ohio Teacher Licensure or valid out-of-state license or credential
· Appropriate criminal record background check as determined by Ohio BCI/FBI
· Highly-qualified Teacher (HQT) designation in area of instruction as determined by ESSA
· Strong instructional and organizational skills including strong verbal and written communication skills
· Proof of positive supervised teaching experiences (can include student teaching)
Essential Job Functions:
· Uphold DBTHS policies and procedures
· Establish teacher expectations of students
· Plan, prepare, and deliver lessons in area of assignment
· Review and evaluate student work to determine and align best instructional practices in order to remediate, extend or enrich student academic growth
· Collaborate with other DBTHS staff members to identify and address learning challenges of individual or small groups of students
· Maintain and submit, in timely fashion, accurate management records of students’ progress and attendance
· Contribute to a positive and caring climate within DBTHS
· Provide guidance and advice to students on educational and appropriate social matters, further education, and career opportunities
· Implement PBIS
· Promote and assist, as needed, student use of technology
· Attend and participate in professional development opportunities to enhance pedagogy and increase knowledge in content area
· Plan, implement and complete IPDP as prescribed by LPDC
· Participate in Ohio Teacher Evaluation System (OTES)
· Initiate, on a regular basis, positive interaction with parents or guardians of students
· Perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned that may be required to meet the needs of students
