What are the responsibilities and job description for the Teacher, English Language Arts position at Dayton Business Technology High School?
Job Summary:
To plan, organize, implement, and evaluate appropriate instructional programs within the area of assignment that guide and encourage students to develop their abilities as they mature and function within society.
Minimum Education:
- Bachelor's Degree in Education or other related field.
- Coursework to enable appropriate licensure and designation as required by state or federal law for the subject matter taught.
Minimum Experience:
- Student teaching experience and/or 1-3 years of substitute teaching experience.
Preferred Education/Experience:
- Master's Degree in Education
- 5 years classroom teaching experience
- 5 years counseling experience
Required Licensure: A valid Ohio Teachers in the appropriate subject area
Essential Functions:
- Plan, prepare, and deliver lessons in area of assignment
- Establish teacher expectations of students
- Review and evaluate student work to determine and align best instructional practices in order to remediate, extend or enrich student academic growth
- Collaborate with other DBTHS staff members to identify and address learning challenges of individual or small groups of students
- Maintain and submit, in timely fashion, accurate management records of students' progress and attendance
- Provide guidance and advice to students on educational and appropriate social matters, further education, and career opportunities
- Implement PBIS
- Initiate, on a regular basis, positive interaction with parents or guardians of students
Other Responsibilities:
- Promote and assist, as needed, student use of technology
- Attend and participate in professional development opportunities to enhance pedagogy and increase knowledge in content area
- Plan, implement and complete IPDP and prescribed by LPDC
- Participate in Teacher Evaluation System and classroom observations
- Attends appropriate meetings regarding student growth and success (IEP and 504 case conferences, parent meetings, expulsion hearings, etc.).
- Participate in district, regional and state meetings as required by DBTHS
- Performs other duties as directed.
Physical Requirements:
- Stand, sit and walk on a frequent basis over an eight-hour period. Work can be modified to be performed in a sit or stand only basis during the workday.
- Fine motor skills required for use in pincher grasp and typing.
Working Conditions:
- Work is generally indoors in a school setting.
