Provides nursing care in the outpatient setting based on assessment and under the direction of the physician and / or nurse practitioner. This care may include but is not limited to ordering of diagnostic tests / order, communication with patient and family as well as other disciplines related to the plan of care. Provides education to patients and parents. Interviews and assesses patients / family needs during telephone encounters and shares information with other members of the team to develop a plan of care utilizing the nursing process set forth by the Ohio Board of Nursing. Possesses the ability to adapt an education plan for parents and children based upon their cognitive levels, abilities, social environment, and cultural belief system. Network with staff from other departments within the hospital, particularly the lab, radiology, and pharmacy. Collaborates with assistive staff, nurse practitioners, physicians, and manager to ensure quality care. Able to prioritize and review pertinent medical findings to the practitioner in a reasonable time frame defined by the practitioners.
Department Specific Job Details :
The Oncology Data Coordinator works collaboratively with the Medical Director, physicians and other disciplines to provide services for persons with cancer and their families. Coordinates data management for the cancer studies sponsored by the Children’s Oncology Group (COG) and other agencies. Oversees and serves as a resource to Tumor Registry. Works collaboratively with hematology / oncology (HO) physicians to facilitate patient management with regard to their specific therapy plan. Performs roadmap audits and serves as a resource to nursing staff related to roadmaps and protocols. Monitors compliance with COG requirements and serves as a liaison between research entities and DC.
