Shriners Children's is actively seeking a Pediatric Intensivist to join our growing team at Shriners Children's Ohio in Dayton. The Pediatric Intensivist will be responsible for the medical management of all patients on the unit (both critical and non-critical), in close collaboration with the attending burn / critical care surgeon. A major focus for the candidate will be on the daily management of post-operative craniofacial patients and post-surgical patients. Schedule will be predominately nights and weekends.
Responsibilities
Provide high level pediatric critical care clinical services to patients including, but not limited to :Performing and recording history and physical examinationsRecording and interpreting pertinent patient dataDeveloping, documenting, and executing a treatment planWriting routine orders for appropriate laboratory studies, imaging, and consultationsPerforming patient / parent teachingAssisting with patient follow-upPerforming appropriate screeningsAdministering medications as requiredOrdering and / or performing therapeutic and diagnostic procedures as indicated by patient findingsPerform, publish, and present clinical and / or translational researchSupervise and teach medical students, residents, and fellowsMake suggestions to the Department Chief and / or attending staff that may be beneficial to the improvement of departmental and / or hospital policies and operations.Participate in the call schedule as assignedDevelop, maintain and promote effective working relationships with other physicians and hospital staffParticipate in staff meetings and hospital committeesUse hospital resources efficientlyAbide by hospital regulations, bylaws, and policiesMaintain good professional relationships with the broader medical communityQualifications
Must possess a Doctor of Medicine (MD) or Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine (DO) degree from an accredited medical schoolMust have completed an Accreditation Council for Graduate Medical Education (ACGME) accredited pediatric residency program.Board certified or board eligibleMust have completed relevant fellowship training in pediatric critical careMust be eligible for medical licensure in the state of OHMust be eligible for DEA licenseMust possess Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) certificationExperience providing care for critically ill pediatric patients in an intensive care setting.
