We are seeking a dedicated and skilled Expanded Function Dental Assistant (EFDA) to join our dynamic dental team. The EFDA will play a crucial role in providing high-quality dental care to our patients while ensuring a smooth and efficient workflow within the clinic. This position requires a strong understanding of dental procedures, excellent communication skills, and the ability to work collaboratively with both patients and staff.
Responsibilities
- Assist the dentist during various procedures, including restorative work, extractions, and other dental treatments.
- Prepare and maintain dental instruments and equipment for patient care.
- Take and develop X-rays as needed, ensuring adherence to safety protocols.
- Maintain accurate medical documentation and patient records in accordance with clinic policies.
- Educate patients on post-operative care and general oral health practices.
- Collaborate with the dental team to ensure optimal patient flow and satisfaction.
- Stay updated on current dental practices, techniques, and technologies relevant to the role.
Requirements
- Proven experience as an EFDA or similar role within a dental clinic setting.
- Strong knowledge of medical terminology, anatomy, and dental systems.
- Place restorations and sealants.
- Assist dentists with procedures like fillings.
- Helps maintain a clean, safe work environment by sterilizing equipment.
- Excellent interpersonal skills with a focus on patient care and comfort.
- Strong organizational skills with attention to detail in clinical procedures.
- Certification or licensure as required by state regulations.
