Position Overview:

As an Operations Planner at Dayton-Granger, Inc., you will be at the center of our manufacturing operations, ensuring that production schedules align with demand, capacity, and material availability to drive efficiency and on-time delivery. In this role, you will develop and manage production schedules for over 1,000 discrete part numbers with multi-level Bills of Materials (BOMs), working cross-functionally with Production, Supply Chain, Procurement, and Quality teams to optimize workflows and resolve bottlenecks. You will leverage Advanced Planning & Scheduling (APS) methodologies and ERP/MRP systems (Oracle, Infor) to improve planning accuracy, efficiency, and overall production performance. If you’re passionate about optimizing manufacturing operations and driving efficiency in a fast-paced environment, this is an opportunity to make a meaningful impact.

Key Responsibilities:

    • Develop and maintain a capacity-constrained production schedule that aligns with demand, forecasts, and inventory levels while issuing work orders and sequencing production for efficiency.
    •  Monitor real-time production status, adjust schedules for machine downtime, material shortages, or labor constraints, and collaborate with teams to resolve bottlenecks and integrate urgent customer requests.
    •  Balance the work center capacity, coordinate with procurement and supply chain teams to prevent material shortages and assess lead times to ensure production commitments are met.
    • Work within a mixed manufacturing environment (manual assembly, machining, painting, finishing, press operations) while ensuring compliance with ISO AS9102 Rev D and aerospace industry standards.
    • Act as the liaison between Planning, Procurement, Production, and Quality teams, communicate schedule changes and risks to stakeholders, and provide real-time updates for customer service teams.
    •  Identify workflow inefficiencies, collaborate with Lean Manufacturing and Continuous Improvement teams, and leverage ERP/MRP systems (Oracle, Infor) for data-driven production improvements.
    • Perform additional tasks assigned by management
    • Follows all DG safety procedures as per company policies and per the Facility Engineer/Safety Director

      Required Qualifications (Must-Haves):

      • 5 years of experience in manufacturing planning, scheduling, and capacity-constrained environments.
      • Expertise in Advanced Planning & Scheduling (APS) methodologies.
      • Strong proficiency in ERP/MRP systems (Oracle, Infor) for production planning and tracking.
      • Experience managing complex, multi-level Bills of Materials (BOMs).
      • Ability to analyze production workflows and optimize scheduling for efficiency.
      • Strong problem-solving skills for managing bottlenecks, downtime, and supply chain disruptions.
      • Excellent communication skills to collaborate with cross-functional teams and leadership.
      • Proficiency in data analysis and reporting for production planning and performance tracking.
      • Strong written and verbal communication skills in English

      Preferred Qualifications (Nice-to-Haves):

      • Experience in a mixed manufacturing environment (manual assembly, machining, painting, finishing, and press operations).
      • Familiarity with Lean Manufacturing & Continuous Improvement methodologies.
      • Previous experience working in an aerospace or avionics manufacturing environment.
      • Understanding of ISO AS9102 Rev D compliance requirements.
      • Experience working with over 1,000 top-level part numbers in a production setting.
      • Understanding of supply chain and stockroom management processes.
      • Experience collaborating with procurement teams to improve material flow.
      • Ability to develop and refine forecasting models for production efficiency.
