Dayton School District is seeking a High School Principal to lead grades 9–12 as an instructional and community-focused leader. This position requires a visionary educator dedicated to fostering a positive, inclusive, and high-achieving environment for students, staff, and families.
District Overview:
Dayton School District is a rural district located in western Oregon’s scenic Mid-Willamette Valley, between McMinnville and Newberg. Our staff works closely with parents and community members to provide a learning environment that supports academic achievement and encourages students to become well-rounded citizens. The district serves approximately 1,000 students across a Grade School, a Junior High (grades 6–8), and a High School (grades 9–12). Our schools attract those who value a strong educational system with a rural sense of connection and care.
Position Description:
*Foster a positive, safe, and supportive learning environment that reflects and celebrates the diversity of the student body and community
*Champion educational equity and student success for all learners
*Lead the development and enhancement of academic programs including career and technical education (CTE), college-readiness, and extracurricular offerings
*Guide and manage continuous school improvement efforts aligned with district goals
*Demonstrate strong instructional leadership and coach teachers toward effective classroom practice
*Set and uphold high expectations for student behavior, academic achievement, and staff performance
*Model ethical leadership and transparent, timely communication
*Manage school operations, staffing, and finances in accordance with district policies and collective bargaining agreements
*Collaborate with families, students, staff, and community partners to support student growth and school success
*Ensure school safety and emergency procedures are effectively implemented and reviewed
*Cultivate partnerships with external organizations and foster school spirit and pride within the community
Minimum Qualifications:
*Current Oregon Administrative License or eligibility
*Master’s Degree in Education
*At least five (5) years of successful teaching experience, preferably at the high school level
*Successful K–12 administrative experience, ideally at the secondary level
*Demonstrated success working with diverse student populations and communities
*Strong organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills
Preferred Qualifications:
*Experience in strengthening athletics, activities, and CTE programs
*Background in restorative practices, equity work, and trauma-informed care
*Bilingual (Spanish) preferred
