SUMMARY
The DPS Public Information Office is seeking a Video Content Coordinator to promote the district through highly engaging and thought-provoking video content. The position requires a strong mix of creative and technical skills that are necessary to create audience-relevant visual stories, informational videos, and advertisements on multiple platforms.
The ideal candidate is self-motivated, high energy, and comfortable working both collaboratively with a team or independently.
Hours: 40-hour week, with specific work hours at the discretion of the department based upon need.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
(Incumbent performs a majority of the following duties)
- Oversees the production of all video content for the Public Information Office.
- Plans and produces engaging social media, website, TV and internal video content for the District.
- Has the ability to meet deadlines and turn around products quickly.
- Schedules and produces content for DPS-TV; ensures content is relevant, interesting and up-to-date.
- Coordinates audio and video production in the studio and when on location throughout the district.
- Livestreams content to district YouTube Channel for Board of Education meetings and other district events as needed.
- Provides photography for the Public Information Office as needed.
- Provides graphic design for print and digital publications as needed.
- Is capable of updating a Wordpress website for the department as needed.
- Has the mastery to edit video in a variety of up-to-date post-production programs.
- Proactively maintains all equipment across all facilities by completing routine maintenance and researches new technology for future purchase.
- Troubleshoots technical problems in department audio/video systems.
- Participates and performs a variety of logistic/clerical tasks such as maintaining a video file program, catalog and record of television channel's special activities.
- Maintains the DPS TV Studio and ensures it is consistently clean/tidy and represents the district in the best light to visitors.
- Remains cognizant of student media release forms and only films/photographs student faces when a current media release is on file; Maintains copies of media release forms when special publications or events require additional parent/guardian consent (example: postcards, billboards, other special circumstances).
- Performs additional duties as required or assigned by Supervisor.
QUALIFICATIONS
Requirements
- Must be a U.S. citizen or have the legal right to work in the U.S.
- Bachelor’s Degree in communications, video/film production, multimedia journalism, broadcasting or related field.
- Experience in video/media production.
- Valid Ohio driver's license.
Knowledge & Experience
- Proficient with professional DSLR, HD cameras and HD cameras in studio configuration – video and still, with an emphasis on composition, audio, lighting and white balance.
- Video production planning skills (storyboarding, talent coordination, scheduling recordings and locations, interviewing, media release forms, etc.).
- Proficient with the following production systems and/or technical equipment: non-linear video editing Premiere Pro and other Adobe CC software. (After Effects, Audition, Photoshop, Illustrator, etc.)
- Experience operating Newtek broadcast equipment and systems (Tricaster, Tricaster Mini, TC1, 3-Play, LiveText)
- Familiarity and proficiency in all social media platforms, including but not limited to Twitter, Facebook, Instagram, YouTube, and Linkedin.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment with tight deadlines and open to critique and change.
- Good knowledge of the current principles and practices of video production and other visual media operations, production procedures, practices, and equipment.
- Good knowledge of video editing practices, downloading and related post-production operations, as well as related computer operations for computer graphics and digital non-linear editing.
- Good knowledge of current principles, procedures, equipment, and practices of audio/radio operations and productions, including microphone usage, natural sound, and music.
- Good knowledge of major video production technical requirements, equipment, and procedures both in a studio or on location.
- Some knowledge of copyright laws and FCC regulations.
- Skill in the use of a wide range of television production, lighting, editing, and related production equipment; and in audio production and development.
- Ability to follow often complex oral and written instructions.
- Ability to establish and maintain successful working relationships with fellow employees, and school staff.
- Excellent written and oral communication skills.
PHYSICAL ATTRIBUTES/DEMANDS
- Excellent hearing and vision and voice and tone differentiation skills. Sufficient mobility to set-up, move, operate equipment in studio and field.
- Sufficient strength to manually move, lift, carry camera and recorders weighing up to 50 pounds for extended periods of time; heavier items may be transported with manual or mechanical assistance
WORK ENVIRONMENT
- Work involves exposure to normal, everyday risks encountered in a school, office or television studio/production setting. Ability to work rotating shifts including nights, holidays and weekends when scheduled.
