Go Karts/Small Motor Mechanic

Position Title: Go-Kart Mechanic - Ensuring Safety and Performance

Job Overview:

The Go-Kart Technician is responsible for the maintenance, repair, and overall operation of the go-kart fleet at the family entertainment center (FEC) or amusement park. This role ensures that all go-karts are safe, functional, and ready for use by guests. The Go-Kart Technician will perform routine inspections, troubleshooting, repairs, and preventative maintenance on the karts, engines, and related equipment to ensure a smooth and safe operation.

Key Responsibilities:

· Maintenance & Repair:

o Perform routine inspections, preventive maintenance, and repairs on go-karts, engines, tires, brakes, and other mechanical components.

o Diagnose mechanical issues, troubleshoot problems, and carry out necessary repairs to ensure karts are in safe and working condition.

o Maintain a log of repairs and maintenance work performed on each kart to ensure proper documentation and tracking of service history.

o Repair or replace parts such as engines, transmissions, steering systems, electrical systems, and safety equipment.

o Ensure that go-karts are fueled, charged (if electric), and ready for guest use before and after each operating shift.

· Safety Inspections & Compliance:

o Conduct daily safety checks on each go-kart to ensure compliance with safety standards and operational guidelines.

o Verify that all safety equipment, including seat belts, harnesses, and helmets, are in good condition and properly functioning.

o Ensure that go-karts meet local safety regulations and operational standards.

o Work closely with the safety team to identify and resolve any potential safety hazards or risks.

· Guest Experience Support:

o Ensure the go-kart track is functioning smoothly, including maintaining the track's layout, barriers, and signage.

o Respond promptly to any issues reported by guests or track attendants, ensuring quick resolution to avoid disruptions in operations.

o Assist in training new staff on proper operation and maintenance of the go-karts, ensuring all team members understand safety protocols and maintenance procedures.

· Record Keeping & Inventory Management:

o Keep accurate records of all maintenance, repairs, and replacement parts.

o Order and maintain inventory of spare parts, tools, and supplies needed for the maintenance and repair of go-karts.

o Maintain proper inventory management and ensure parts are ordered in a timely manner to minimize downtime.

· Collaboration & Team Support:

o Work closely with other team members, including track attendants, safety staff, and management, to ensure smooth operation of the go-kart attraction.

o Participate in team meetings and provide feedback on maintenance procedures, safety improvements, and operational efficiencies.

· Track and Facility Maintenance:

o Assist with the upkeep and maintenance of the go-kart track and surrounding areas, ensuring the track is clean, safe, and well-maintained for guests.

o Report any facility issues, such as damage to barriers or signage, to management for quick resolution.

Qualifications:

· Previous experience in mechanical repair, maintenance, or a similar technical field (automotive or small engine repair is preferred).

· Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.

· Ability to work with mechanical and electrical systems.

· Knowledge of go-kart engines, transmissions, steering, and other mechanical systems.

· Ability to use diagnostic tools, power tools, and hand tools.

· Familiarity with safety protocols and regulations related to go-kart operation.

· Excellent attention to detail and commitment to ensuring safety standards are met.

· Strong communication skills and ability to collaborate with team members and other departments.

· Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and adapt to changing priorities.

· Comfortable working in both indoor and outdoor environments.

Physical Requirements:

· Ability to lift up to 50 pounds and carry tools or equipment.

· Ability to work in a standing, crouching, or kneeling position for extended periods of time.

· Ability to work in hot, humid, and outdoor conditions, especially during peak seasons.

· Comfortable working with mechanical tools and machinery.

Working Conditions:

This role involves working in an active and fast-paced environment. The Go-Kart Technician will spend a significant amount of time outdoors on the go-kart track and working in the repair shop. The position may require evening, weekend, and holiday shifts, particularly during peak business hours or events. Technicians should be prepared to work in various weather conditions, including heat, rain, and other outdoor elements.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $16.00 - $18.00 per hour
