Required Qualifications :
- Master's degree in nursing, from an accredited institution.
Two (2) years of recent, clinical nursing experience.
Candidate must be currently licensed as a registered nurse in the state of Florida.
Preferred Qualifications : Prior classroom teaching and simulation facilitation experience is preferred.
Rank : Appointment level to any faculty position is dependent upon qualifications and experience.
Salary : Nine-month position. Competitive salary depending on experience.
Tenure and Promotion : Tenure and promotion are awarded based on a review by a college-wide committee of the candidate's contributions to service, pedagogy and scholarship.
Key Responsibilities :
Prepare and submit requisitions for supplies and equipment.
Establish and maintain positive relations with vendors and potential laboratory supplies and / or equipment donors.
Attend monthly Associate Degree (AD) and Practical (PN) Nursing faculty meetings.
Participate in departmental and college-wide committees as assigned.
Participate as a member of the Volusia Flagler Clinical Consortium.
Participate as a member of the School of Nursing Advisory Committee.
Chair / Co-Chair the School of Nursing resource committee.
Function as liaison with nursing faculty to identify faculty resources.
Function as liaison with the Academic Support Center.
Coordinate with the college's Information Technology department to maintain computer laboratories.
Professional Development
Engages in activities that advance the teaching discipline or profession.
Maintains or acquires appropriate or required certifications, licensure, or other professional credentials.
College Responsibilities and Service :
Participating in the promotion and continuing contract process.
Keeps scheduled office hours as required by the respective load formula for the purpose of academic advising.
Records student attendance as necessary.
Attends department, division, and college-wide academic functions.
Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities :
Ability to establish and maintain effective professional relationships with students, colleagues and supervisors.
Ability to communicate clearly, effectively and professionally through oral and written communications.
Commitment to the community college mission, innovative and effective teaching, sustained and significant professional development, and service to the College.
Computer literacy and the ability to navigate in a Windows environment.
