Required Qualifications :
- Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university in risk management, business administration, safety, or a related field.
- Four (4) years of progressively responsible experience in risk management, occupational health and safety, liability insurance, workers' compensation, or closely related field.
Preferred Qualifications :
Certificate in one of the following areas : Risk Management (CRM), Associate Risk Manager (ARM), Hazardous Waste Operations and Emergency Response (HAZWOPER), or OSHA.Experience in Enterprise Risk Management (ERM).Experience with data collection, analysis, and preparation of written and oral reports.State Requirements for Educational Facilities (SREF) certification.Key Responsibilities :
Manages college-wide liability and property / casualty insurance programs in close coordination with the FCSRMC. Reviews and suggests changes in policies and verifies accuracy of terms and conditions.Point of contact for first report of injuries and authorization for treatment and ensures timely claims filing.Collaborates with Employee Benefits and Campus Safety to process, investigate, and resolve worker's compensation cases to facilitate the employee's return to work.Processes and investigates claims of student medical errors in clinical and hospital learning environments and develops remedial strategies in partnership with the healthcare facility staff.Investigates indoor air quality complaints, conducts health and safety related accident investigations, conducts job hazard analysis, and provides ergonomic assessments. Identifies exposures and assesses liability through evaluation of claim loss reports, statistics, and trends, and recommends risk control methods to minimize risks and ensure safety.Investigates property damage claims and losses, submits timely reports, and assists in property claims management.Obtains Certificates of Insurance (COI) from vendors to protect College assets.Provides support, education, and training to employees to build risk awareness, promote environmental health and safety best practices, and ensure compliance.Develop, implement and administer effective loss prevention initiatives and programs for preventing injuries, occupational illnesses, vehicular collisions, liabilities and property damage.Monitors new and proposed legislation pertaining to insurance and evaluates impact and assists with the development, review, and coordination of policies and procedures to ensure best practices and compliance.Serve as a member of the following : Critical Incident Management Team (CIMT), the College Safety Committee and the Healthcare Committee; assists in emergency preparedness planning, development of evacuation procedures, and development of work safety standards.Maintains enrollment process for optional insurance coverage programs (e.g., professional liability, and student accident coverage).Maintains accurate records and details of workers' compensation claims, property listings, values, and claims. Coordinates with the FCSRMC on all submissions.Oversees and conducts internal fire and safety reviews; recommends corrective actions, and coordinates the third-party inspections with Facilities for compliance, corrective action, and reporting.Assesses, recommends actions for compliance, and coordinates a comprehensive life, health, and safety system for the workplace in conjunction with all local, State, and federal regulations and programs.Other duties and special projects as assigned and directed by the President or their designee.Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities :
Knowledge of the principles of risk management and safety compliance.Knowledge of commercial lines insurance coverages, policy forms, underwriting processes, and claims submission / management processes.Knowledge of local, state, and federal laws related to risk management and building and life safety.Knowledge of insurance theory, practices, basic insurance contract language, and Certificates of Insurance coverages and exclusions.Excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills with the ability to clearly and concisely articulate ideas, concepts, and proposals.Demonstrated ability to develop and deliver training presentations and workshops.Excellent Microsoft Office skills, including Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.Demonstrated critical thinking, ability to deal with ambiguity, resolve complex problems, and effectively manage projects.Ability to treat confidential information with sensitivity.Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with expertise in gathering and collecting data, logical reasoning, drawing valid conclusions, and making effective recommendations related to risk management and to implementing policies and best practices.Demonstrated ability to investigate incidents, research information, and prepare incident reports.Ability to work independently and effectively plan work activities, schedules, and multiple priorities to meet deadlines.Ability to exhibit a professional, courteous demeanor.This position requires a criminal background screening.
