General Job Description:
Continues development of the overall inventory accuracy by way of maintaining the processes related to that of physical inventory cycle counting, inventory valuation analysis, and inventory reporting. Works to achieve organizational unity across all departmental processes that can and do impact inventory valuation starting from point of purchase through point of sale. This includes, but is not limited to, the philosophies involved with purchasing product, receiving product, stocking product, retrieving product, transferring product, and selling of product.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Customer Service Excellence
Offers a friendly greeting, smiles, and makes eye contact when working with customers
Show enthusiasm when working with the customers
Thank customers for shopping with MPBS
Inventory Control & Reporting
Will prepare, cycle count, and audit the entire facility's inventory at minimum once yearly
Will coordinate all accessory counts that impact inventory
Works collaboratively with buyers and departmental staff to minimize the number of product 'lows and outs' so as to maximize high product availability to our customers
Works with staff to identify and then resolve any and all problems that may negatively impact accurate inventory levels
Accurately records number data, and presents inventory status reports quarterly or when requested
Product Maintenance
Works with buying staff to update inventory descriptions, UPC's, manufacture numbers, and other dated or incorrect product property objects
Works with buying staff to adjust price sensitive products
Assists with adding new products to the system
Assists with decommissioning or removing of old products from the system
Assists with maintaining regular product price updates as scheduled by Jensen, Do it Best, and Paint Sundries Solutions
Basic Requirements
Personal Knowledge
Must understand and be able to demonstrate high-level retail based inventory control standards and practices.
Capable of thinking critically and analytically
Willing and able to work cooperatively with management and coworkers
Willing and able to learn and adapt from mistakes
Able to meet deadlines
Excel & Data
Proficient at data entry
Must enjoy working with numbers
Must be mid to high-level proficient with Microsoft Excel while being familiar enough to concatenate, run lookup functions, and create pivot tables
Maintains Safety, Security, and Integrity
Follows all safety policies and procedures
Act as a spotter when necessary
Take action if other Associates are acting in an unsafe manner
Follows all other policies and procedures
Takes action to reduce shrink
Treats all associates and customers with the respect while keeping to our company's goals, mission, and philosophy.
Physical Job Requirements
Bending, stooping, reaching, twisting, lifting, pushing, pulling and moving items
Requires the ability to move around the store and maneuver merchandise when necessary
Requires the ability to lift and reposition heavy products weighing as much as 80 lbs
Responding to overhead intercom announcements
Requires ability to respond to customer service calls, personal pages and general information announcements
Moving and Standing
Requires moving around the store to assist Customers
Identifying and reading reports, tickets and UPC labels
Requires recognizing, identifying and using merchandise and necessary reports
Minimum Qualifications
Business degree in some qualifying field preferred
2 years of inventory control experience preferred
Able to design, create, and maintain spreadsheets using Microsoft Excel
Be able to work a flexible schedule
Must have an ability to work well in groups
Professional goal oriented team player
