Position/Role:
Lead Architectural Designer for a progressive, high volume remodeling firm in the Atlanta area
Summary:
A dB Atlanta residential architect specializes in designing and overseeing home construction or renovation working closely with clients to understand their needs, create detailed design plans, create specifications for each project, ensure compliance with building codes, and support project management throughout the construction process, focusing on aesthetics, functionality, and budget considerations.
Experience:
Minimum 5 years of residential experience as lead architect/designer
Education:
- Architectural or equivalent degree from accredited institution
- Current certifications in software and to maintain applicable licensing
Key Responsibilities:
· Client Consultation:
Meet with clients to discuss their vision, site conditions, budget, and functional requirements for their home
· Site Analysis:
Conduct site surveys to create as-builts, assess existing conditions and challenges, establish accessibility for construction activity, and document as needed
· Concept Design:
Develop preliminary design sketches and 3D models to visually communicate the design concept to clients
· Design Development:
Refine the design based on client feedback, incorporating detailed floor plans, elevations, sections, and specifications
· Construction Documents:
Create comprehensive construction drawings and specifications, including details for structural elements, finishes, and building systems.
· Permitting:
· Navigate local zoning and building codes to obtain necessary permits for construction.
· Construction Administration:
Review shop drawings, answer construction questions, and monitor site progress to maintain design integrity. Develop library of standard construction details
Skills and Qualifications:
- Architectural Design: Strong understanding of design principles, aesthetics, and spatial planning
- Building Codes: Thorough knowledge of local building codes and regulations
- CAD Software Proficiency: Expertise in using computer-aided design (CAD) software with particular competence in 3D modeling, as in Chief Architect or Revit
- Communication Skills: Excellent communication skills to effectively collaborate with clients, field staff, contractors, and other stakeholders
- Technical Knowledge: Knowledge of structural systems, mechanical systems, and building materials and products (such as doors/windows, insulation, roofing etc.)
- Documents: Skilled in preparation of complete and accurate construction plans, including incorporation of structural drawings, schedules, and clear dimensioning; and creating thorough scope and specification documents for each project
- Procurement – Assist in ordering windows, doors, and other architectural specialty items
