JOB SUMMARY
The landscaping technician is an experienced landscaper and assists the Division Manager & Supervisor. The position is responsible for landscape maintenance projects under the direction of the Division Manager & Supervisor. The landscaping technician is able to operate a variety of equipment and has a working knowledge of horticultural practices.
SUMMARY OF ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS
Job Requirements:
- Completes landscape maintenance duties, such a mowing, chemical and fertilizer application, weed control, spring clean-up, fall clean-up, trimming and pruning.
- Maintains a clean and safe work environment, including work site and equipment.
- Completes the job in the most time-efficient manner meeting the company productivity targets.
- Operates a variety of mechanical equipment, including but not limited to, bed edger’s, commercial mowers (ztr’s and possible bush hog), blowers, dump trailers, chain saw, and line trimmers.
- Must be approved as a driver who safely operates vehicles such as trucks and trailer combinations.
- Assists the Division Manager & Supervisor with route and job organization, ensuring that sufficient resources and materials are available.
- Care for equipment and notifies management of needed repairs.
- Applies chemicals under the direction of licensed applicator.
Knowledge & Experience
- The successful individual will have a working knowledge of standard horticultural practices, including but not limited to mowing, weed eating, corrective pruning and fertilization.
- This position requires a high school degree or GED, plus two year’s proven experience in the landscape maintenance field.
- Candidate must be able to read with good comprehension and write.
- Strong oral and written communication skills, math skills, job planning skills, problem solving skills and mechanical aptitude are a must.
- Must be approved as a driver.
- Experience with maintenance of large multi-site projects.
