JOB SUMMARY
The seasonal position(s) is responsible for the delivery of winter maintenance operations and snow and ice control, operation of snowplows, performing maintenance on highways.
SUMMARY OF ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Operate winter maintenance equipment such as snowplows
- Certification to operate heavy machinery such as a Loader and Skidsteer.
- Perform minor maintenance and repairs on vehicles and equipment
- Complete daily paperwork and documentation as required
EDUCATION, TRAINING AND KNOWLEDGE
- The ideal candidate will possess the following education and experience:
- Highway maintenance experience
- Demonstrated experience in highway snow and ice control including thorough knowledge of plowing and salting procedures, materials and concepts
- Work experience on a road crew is a definite plus
- High School diploma or equivalent; additional related training/certification is a plus
- Must possess a valid Class B driver’s license.

- Excellent skill in the operation of various highway maintenance vehicles and equipment
- Strong work ethics and attention to detail
- Clean driving record
- Ability to communicate effectively in English, both orally and in writing
- Good customer service skills
- Must be able to lift and carry 50-60 pounds
- Good knowledge and ability to perform minor equipment repairs and maintenance
- Able to work a flexible schedule, including evenings and weekends if needed to respond to emergency calls and weather related operations
