What are the responsibilities and job description for the DBT Therapist position at DBT Works?
DBT Works has a mission to provide the highest quality dialectical behavior therapy (DBT) services and increase access to those services in our community. We are a compassionate, energetic, and supportive team looking for a passionate and motivated therapist to join us.
The day program is an intensive psychiatric day program for clients ages 15-25. The program runs from Monday to Friday from 9am to 3pm and clients attend for 4-8 weeks. Our program is “all DBT all the time” and we treat clients with high levels of emotional sensitivity and dysregulation.

Reports to : Clinical Director
Qualifications :
Licensed preferred, or license eligible in the state of Massachusetts
Master’s or Doctoral Degree in a relevant field
Preference for prior experience with DBT
Must have a minimum of 2 years experience in behavioral therapy
Must be willing to learn adherent DBT
Competencies :
Ability to conceptualize cases, plan treatment, and implement interventions from a DBT perspective.
Demonstrates use of evidence-based practices based on the client population and goals.
Incorporates DBT skills and knowledge into practice.
Seeks and incorporates supervisor and team feedback.
Provides constructive feedback to help clinical staff achieve their goals and to facilitate their growth and development.
Represents the organization in a professional manner and upholds clinic mission and values.
About the Role :
Provide high quality services to adolescents, young adults, and families using DBT.
Serve as primary therapist in the intensive day program (provide individual therapy, family therapy, parent coaching sessions; lead groups).
Complete all required documentation in a timely manner consistent with state and accreditation requirements.
Participate in monthly tape / adherence review.
Collaborate with other members of the interdisciplinary team, seek consultation and supervision as necessary.
Uphold DBT principles and strategies, consultation agreements, and staff and client assumptions in interactions with clients and the team. Examples of key DBT principles include non judgment, empathy, and compassion. For more information, see
Contribute to an environment where staff want to work and clients want to receive treatment.
Contribute to program development (i.e., implementing new procedures or systems) to improve patient care or team functioning.
Participate in the on-call rotation.
While this role is primarily in the day program, it is the expectation that all staff will support the wider team as needed (e.g., covering or seeing clients in the outpatient program as needed).
