DC Bilingual is recruiting a Full-Time After-School Program Director who will oversee the full function of DC Bilingual’s Hive Program for students Prek3-5th grade.
DC Bilingual is seeking motivated staff who are committed to the school’s mission and will work to create a strong vision for its Hive program that serves to complement the school’s daytime program. The director will bring professionalism, urgency, and dedication to the school environment. All staff are expected to work collaboratively within our professional learning community (PLC).
JOB RESPONSIBILITIES
Vision and Program Development
- Strengthen the Hive Program vision to reflect a high-quality, efficient program with clear systems and structures.
- Develop a rich after-care curriculum fostering creativity, imagination, and a love for learning in PK3-5th grade students.
- Establish benchmarks, timelines, and metrics to measure program success and collect data.
- Document and present the program's short- and long-term developments to families, teachers, leadership, and other stakeholders.
Program Management
- Plan and oversee daily Hive operations with the support of managers.
- Supervise staff schedules, including coverage and substitutions.
- Ensure Hive policies and procedures are implemented consistently and efficiently.
- Build and maintain partnerships with organizations to enrich the Hive experience (e.g., Urban Adventure Squad, workshops, field trips, student presentations).
- Manage student behavior systems with the support of managers and specialists, ensuring alignment with No Nonsense Nurture expectations.
- Foster an inclusive environment for students with disabilities, adapting the program to meet their unique needs and ensuring full participation.
Budget and Financial Management
- Assist in developing and managing the Hive budget in collaboration with the school principal and finance team.
- Monitor expenditures and identify cost-saving opportunities while maintaining program quality.
- Achieve enrollment targets and goals for the program.
Operations and Early/Lunch/Recess Program Management
- Lead the lunch and recess aspects of the academic day, including managing, staffing/scheduling, training, and evaluating for process improvement. If needed, serve as a backup in the classroom or Bistros.
- Manage the early drop-off aspect of the Hive program, including managing, staffing/scheduling, training, and evaluating for process improvement. If needed, serve as a backup in the classroom or Bistros.
- Approval of Timesheets: Review and approve timesheets for selected school staff
- Participate in staff meetings and contribute to strategic planning and operational improvements.
Staff supervision and development
- Recruit, hire, on-board & supervise high quality Hive staff.
- Supervise & coach direct managers.
- Work collaboratively with managers & other school academic leaders to provide high-quality professional development opportunities for Hive staff, while setting a unified vision of collaboration among staff of school daytime and Hive program.
- Yearly evaluates Hive staff.
Communication and Collaboration
- Collaborate with school leadership to support the overall educational mission and goals.
- Establish clear and consistent communication systems (modeled after daytime program systems) to ensure high-quality communication with all school stakeholders-- families, staff, partners, etc.
- Communicate effectively with staff, students, parents, and the broader school community about Hive matters.
- Create and maintain strong and up to date Hive Program resources (handbook, webpage, policies/guidelines and resources) that stakeholders can easily access.
- Participate in school leadership meetings, contributing to the strategic planning process.
- Demonstrate dedication to the Professional Learning Community (PLC) by supporting school-wide initiatives and programs
- When needed, coordinate fundraising efforts and grant writing with HOS.
- Creates organizational culture that consistently focuses on improving individual, team, and organization-wide performance.
- Publically represents organization, providing inspiration and building engagement and support.
REQUIREMENTS
- BA in education, MA preferred or equivalent years of working experience.
- Five years of experience working with children, youth, or adults in a school or community-based organization, along with experience coaching, managing, or supervising staff.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills and the ability to communicate effectively with colleagues, parents, community members, and staff members.
- Experience with professional development facilitation through leading workshops, team meetings, or group work sessions with clear session objectives and deliverables.
- Bilingualism Required (Spanish/English).
- Demonstrated ability to work with students and families from diverse backgrounds.
- This is a full-time 12 months position.

SUPERVISORY REQUIREMENTS
This position has supervisory responsibilities by supervising Hive Managers, coordinators, receptionist & teachers and vendor services. This position reports directly to the principals of the school.

The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.

Salary : $87,750 - $111,150
