Brief Description of Duties

The incumbent of this position serves as a Clinical Psychologist at Saint Elizabeths Hospital with the DC Department of Behavioral Health. The incumbent acts as a Unit Psychologist for Saint Elizabeths Hospital, an inpatient facility serving forensic and civil patients. Direct intervention includes individual and group therapy, milieu treatment, psychological assessment, competency restoration, and multidisciplinary collaboration. The incumbent is part of the psychology training faculty and provides clinical supervision, depending on licensure level, for pre-doctoral and / or post-doctoral psychology trainees. With sufficient training and interest, the incumbent may conduct forensic evaluations of competency, criminal responsibility, and / or risk. The incumbent also provides expert court testimony as needed. DS-11 $72,751 - $93,685

DS-12 $89,961 - $115,099

DS-13 $103,651 - $133,558

Qualifications

QUALIFICATIONS REQUIREMENT : Satisfactory completion as an American Psychological Association (APA) accredited doctoral program (Ph.D. or Psy.D) in clinical or counseling psychology and an (APA) accredited clinical internship. In addition to the basic requirements, applicants must be licensed in the District of Columbia through the D.C. Health, Health Professional Licensing Administration before the start of employment.

DS-11 Licensed Psychology Associate in the District of Columbia through the D.C. Health, Health Professional Licensing Administration

DS-12 Licensed Psychology Associate in the District of Columbia through the D.C. Health, Health Professional Licensing Administration

DS-13 - Licensed Clinical Psychologist in the District of Columbia through the D.C. Health, Health Professional Licensing Administration and has met the required number of supervised hours to become a licensed Psychologist in the district of Columbia

EMPLOYER MAY PAY RELOCATION EXPENSES FOR A NEW APPOINTMENT.

Work Experience

Experience providing direct care of the severely mentally ill inpatient population including individual and group therapy.

Work Environment

Work is performed in a controlled environment and involves some exposure to moderate risk of accidents and requires following basic safety precautions.

  • Return-to-duty or follow-up drug and alcohol test.

RESIDENCY PREFERENCE AMENDMENT ACT OF 1988

A person applying for a position in the Career Service, Educational Service, Management Supervisory Service, a line attorney position in the Legal Service (series 905), or an attorney position in the Excepted Service (series 905) who is a bona fide District resident AT THE TIME OF APPLICATION for the position may be awarded a 10-point residency preference over non-District applicants, unless the person declines the preference points. If selected, the person shall be required to present proof of bona fide District residency and maintain such residency for 7 consecutive years from the effective date of the appointment. Failure to maintain bona fide District residency for the 7-year period will result in forfeiture of employment.
