What are the responsibilities and job description for the Medical Front Office Assistant position at DC PULMONARY MEDICINE?
We are looking for a competent Front Office Assistant to help with the daily administrative functions of the medical office.
The ideal candidate will be a hard-working, bi-lingual, professional person able to diligently complete a variety of office support tasks and work under pressure. This person will pay a high degree of attention to detail and be able to master all of the tasks given her by the supervising staff. The following are examples of some of these tasks.
- Greeting patients: As patients arrive, greet them warmly and make them feel welcome. Be able to converse in English and Spanish.
- Scheduling appointments: Manage the calendar by scheduling and rescheduling appointments, ensuring that the office runs efficiently.
- Maintaining patient records: Update and maintain patient records in the EMR system, ensuring that all information is accurate and up-to-date.
- Answering phones: Handle phone calls, address patient questions, take messages, and provide information as needed.
- Verifying insurance: Verify insurance details and handle billing inquiries, assisting patients with any questions they may have.
- Assisting patients with forms: Help patients fill out necessary forms and guide them on the next steps.
- Ordering office supplies: Ensure that office supplies are stocked and order new supplies as needed.
- Providing comfort: Occasionally, provide comfort and support to patients who may be anxious and concerned about their health.
- Processing payments: Process payments from patients and handle any related inquiries.
- Transcribing notes: When needed, transcribe notes from providers and ensure that all information is accurately recorded.
This person will be able to work with a high degree of attention to detail, the use of judgment and discretion as well as actively engaged in improving the efficiency and productivity of the office staff and the office workflows, both in the front office and the back office.

The ideal candidate will be a hard-working professional able to undertake a variety of office support tasks and work diligently under pressure. This person will be comfortable working with a high degree of attention to detail and discretion as well as incorporating new and effective ways to achieve better results.
This person will be responsible for supervising 2-4 front office staff members.
