  • This is a full-time role at KAT Wholesale in Olathe, Kansas
  • Hourly Range: $18.00-$20.00 dependent on experience

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assist Customers: Provide knowledgeable and friendly service to customers, addressing their inquiries, helping them locate products, and offering expert advice on landscape materials to ensure a positive shopping experience.
  • In-Store Merchandising: Ensure that merchandise is displayed attractively and effectively within the store, restocking shelves as needed and organizing products to enhance visibility and accessibility.
  • Task Completion: Efficiently complete assigned tasks and work orders to meet daily operational goals and deadlines.
  • End of Day: Enter all sales transactions accurately recording in the Day End Excel Sheet throughout the day. At the end of the day, reconcile the sheet with the EOD report, fix any discrepancies, and securely compile all necessary financial documentation for accounting.
  • Work Quality: Consistently perform all duties to a high standard, ensuring product integrity and customer satisfaction.
  • Work Safely: Adhere to safety protocols and best practices to prevent accidents and ensure a safe working environment.

Essential Job Duties:

  • Greet every customer promptly and with a friendly demeanor, whether they enter the store or call on the phone, making them feel welcomed and valued
  • Actively listen to customer inquiries regarding landscape materials and products, providing accurate and informed responses. When necessary, promptly pass inquiries to the appropriate account representative for specialized assistance
  • Respond to incoming phone calls, addressing questions related to product availability, pricing, or order status, and efficiently manage day-to-day customer transactions, including processing invoices and accurately handling payment transactions
  • Process payments accurately and update customer information in the system, ensuring customer files are current and reflect any changes
  • Process new customer applications, ensuring all necessary documentation is collected and entered into the system to facilitate account creation
  • Facilitate and nurture a portfolio of small accounts as the primary point of contact, ensuring exceptional service, timely communication, and account satisfaction
  • Maintain accurate records in the CRM system, support sales goals by identifying growth opportunities, and contribute to achieving individual and team sales targets
  • Ensure that merchandise is displayed attractively and effectively within the store by regularly assessing product displays and organizing landscaping materials in a visually appealing manner according to merchandising guidelines
  • Monitor inventory levels and promptly restock shelves as needed to maintain product availability and prevent empty displays
  • Review daily task lists, prioritize responsibilities, and efficiently complete assigned tasks and work orders to meet operational goals and deadlines
  • Throughout the day, accurately record sales transactions in the Day End Excel Sheet, inputting necessary details immediately after each sale to avoid discrepancies
  • At the end of the day, reconcile the Day End Excel Sheet with the EOD report, cross-checking figures to identify and resolve any discrepancies. Compile and secure all financial documents for the accounting department
  • Consistently strive to exceed customer expectations by anticipating needs, providing expert advice on landscape materials, and solutions that enhance their shopping experience to foster repeat business and positive referrals
  • Stay updated on product specifications and landscaping trends through ongoing training and literature review to ensure informed customer interactions
  • Familiarize oneself with and strictly adhere to safety guidelines and best practices to prevent accidents and ensure a safe working environment
  • Maintain vigilance in identifying potential hazards within the store and report them to management to uphold safety standards

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Required: High school diploma or equivalent
  • Required: 1 years’ working experience in customer service
  • Preferred: Bilingual in Spanish and English
  • Preferred: 1 years’ working experience in the landscaping, nursery, garden center, or a related industry
