Description

The Dallas Children's Advocacy Center is seeking an experienced Senior Director to provide oversight and leadership for our family therapeutic and advocacy services. The Senior Director of Therapeutic Services will lead efforts to enable children and families to heal, thrive and break the cycle of abuse. They will drive best practices within the child advocacy center model, representing DCAC on a local, state, and national scale by serving as an industry leader.

 

ABOUT DCAC: The mission of the Dallas Children's Advocacy Center is to improve the lives of abused children in Dallas County and to provide national leadership on child abuse issues. DCAC is a non-profit organization and the only agency of its kind in Dallas County, working in agreement with public and private agencies to investigate, prosecute, and provide healing services for child abuse cases in Dallas County.

We reduce the victimization of the child, remove barriers to investigation and treatment, and enhance criminal prosecution with our distinctive multidisciplinary and united approach to these complex and severe cases, all at no cost to our clients. Each year, DCAC serves over 13,000 children and their non-offending family members.

GENERAL DESCRIPTION:

Reporting directly to Chief Program Officer (CPrO), the Senior Director of Therapeutic Services leads and provides oversight of the actions and coordination of all therapeutic disciplines and are primarily responsible for fostering superior quality client care. As such, they will ensure that DCAC provides comprehensive and accessible services that empower children and families affected by abuse and trauma.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

 

Community Outreach / Collaboration:

  • Represents DCAC in community task forces, speaking engagements, conferences, and training that further DCAC’s mission, attends community, donor, key stakeholder meetings with or on behalf of the Chief Program Officer.
  • Engages and educates community partners by providing DCAC tours, visiting local police departments, child protection office, medical facilities, and child centered community agencies.
  • Supports the CPrO in strengthening relationships with other departments, MDT disciplines, CAC colleagues, and CACTX to advance agency services.
  • Works creatively with child-serving community partners to identify and secure essential resources designed to meet the needs of DCAC partners and clients; such community partners may include domestic violence agencies, trauma responsive services, substance abuse agencies and other DFW agencies that may provide resource services for clients.
  • Responsible for driving the research and evaluation provision through partnership with SMU; reviewing regular reports regarding screenings and assessments to inform agency services as well as providing information for publications.
  • Provides consultation and regular communication with internal and external stakeholders including Child Protective Investigations, law enforcement, District Attorney’s Office, Children's Hospital, and other social service agencies directly involved with DCAC services.
  • Serves as part of the DCAC expert witness team for the Dallas County DAs as needed.

Program Operations:

  • Oversees the management of the day-to-day process of Clinical Services and Advocacy Services.
  • Ensures program operations are best and promising practices through a consistent review of program data sets and outcome metrics, utilizing the information to make data driven decisions regarding updates to program delivery.
  • Develops, implements, and maintains standardized program processes and procedures that ensure services are free of barriers for children in need of services at DCAC.
  • Mentor and collaborate with department leadership to ensure quality services are in place as pertains to the therapeutic services required to support all reported victims of child abuse served by the agency and partners.
  • Conducts on-going visits with onsite and offsite partners to steward “one team” approach to service delivery.
  • Coordinate and analyze outcomes to inform future programmatic decisions. Ensure that appropriate data is collected and maintained for grant funding reports and that reports are submitted promptly.
  • Evaluates feedback from participants and partners to assess effectiveness and implement changes or improvements as needed.

Compliance:  

  •  Responsible for the oversight, coordination, evaluation, and compliance with CACTX Texas Standards for CACs, NCA accreditation standards, and Texas Family Code and Administrative code; conducts annual reviews to ensure Therapeutic Services follows required standards, statues, and laws. 
  • Participates in the revision of the DCAC MDT Investigative Protocol and Memorandums of Understanding (MOUs) and ensures documents are updated and in compliance with HIPAA.
  • Acts in the capacity of the HIPAA compliance officer and is responsible for the agency following all HIPAA policies and procedures, reporting violations, maintaining incident reports, serving as agency’s point of contact, and ensuring all documentation is in order; works with the Chief People Officer to ensure staff complete annual HIPAA compliance training and works with the Director of Facilities ensuring HIPAA Security Rules are followed; follows all CACTX HIPAA guidelines.
  • Oversee the coordination, integration, and delivery of all programmatic services under the Therapeutic Services umbrella, promoting collaborative relationships between departments and ensuring that expectations of funders, partners, constituents, clients, and other stakeholders are consistently met.

Leadership Oversight: 

  •  Supports the Chief Program Officer in the overall development, service delivery, and management of the programming provided to the community. 
  • Ensures efficient and effective daily operations under the Therapeutic Services umbrella.
  • Provides supervision, coaching and professional development support to the Program Directors in the Clinical Services and Advocacy Services departments and their team members.
  • Oversees, in conjunction with the Directors under the Therapeutic Services umbrella, the goal and objective setting process and the annual employee performance evaluation process.
  • Responsible for staffing plans and participates in hiring decisions to build high functioning, collaborative team; works strategically to ensure alignment, communication, and positive relationships with internal and external stakeholders.  
  • Oversees the DCAC internship program, ensuring coordination with other departments to effectively provide an equitable, compliant volunteer service and learning opportunity as appropriate to meet agency needs.
  • Ensures suitable metrics and key performance indicators are in place to measure performance and progress of the programs under the Therapeutic Services umbrella and team members.  
  • Maintains a high level of fiscal responsibility in managing budgets and completes accurate funding and productivity reports.  
  • Maintains high level of expertise within child abuse and trafficking fields by staying current on relevant literature, research, and interview trends.  
  • Supports individual and team wellness through implementation of CE-CERT skills and debriefing.  
  • Provides staff with regular opportunities for relationship and team building, and staff recognition and support.
  • Fosters effective teamwork between Therapeutic Services and other DCAC departments.

Other Duties:   

  • Participates in relevant peer meetings and individual team meetings to collaborate, report on trends, and problem solve with all relevant stakeholders. 
  • Stewards’ relationships with program leadership and understanding of agency services to accurately plan and coordinate efficient and effective program analysis and supports.
  • Attends and participates in monthly supervisor meetings. 
  • Attends and participates in check-in meetings with Chief Program Officer.  
  • Attends and participates and/or assists with Crimes Against Children Conference. 
  • Attends on-going training in field subject matter.  
  • Support the Chief Program Officer in executing strategies in the DCAC strategic plan.
  • Other duties as assigned.  

Qualifications


Master’s degree and clinical licensure required. At least 4-5 years working in the field of child abuse and neglect and 3-4 years supervisory experience; preferably with at least 3 years of experience working in a children’s advocacy center or multidisciplinary team model.

 

Required License(s) or Certifications: Valid and clear DL.  Must successfully complete annual criminal and civil background checks. Appropriate clinical license/certification to perform essential duties in the state of Texas, i.e., Supervisor credentials for Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC), Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW), Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist (LMFT), or Licensed Psychologist (LP) preferred.

 

Software experience required: Proficient experience with Microsoft Applications and client database management.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:  

  • Knowledge of child development and family dynamics; knowledge of sexual abuse dynamics as it relates to victims and perpetrators.
  • Knowledge of national certification and accreditation requirements.

  • Skilled with effective communication with a diverse community of stakeholders including law enforcement, CPS, the Dallas Juvenile DA’s office, Children’s Health, DCAC staff, clients and families.

WORK ENVIRONMENT:

Work Location: All work must be performed in the office due to client confidentiality.  Employees working at DCAC 90 days are eligible to apply for a hybrid work schedule.

Mental and Physical Abilities:   Duties are usually performed seated with occasional periods of standing or walking. Limited physical effort is required associated with lifting and carrying objects (less than 25 lbs). 

Working Conditions:   Work may be performed but is not limited to an office environment.
