The Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee (DCCC) is the official national Democratic campaign committee charged with electing Democrats to the U. S. House of Representatives. The DCCC recruits Democratic candidates and supports Democratic campaigns – both challengers and Democratic incumbent Members – with a variety of services including field operations, fundraising support, communications assistance, digital strategy, research support and management consulting. The DCCC is supported by the contributions of individuals and organizations, along with Democratic Members, from throughout the country. Due to the cyclic nature of our organization, all positions are subject to separation at the end of the election cycle.

Position Summary: The DCCC is hiring a Deputy Voter Protection Director (DVPD) to oversee all post-election, redistricting, and state legislative initiatives for the 2026 election cycle. This role will work with the Organizing and Data Operations teams to build and execute post-election voter protection programs in target districts. The DVPD will manage the Ballot Cure Hotline Manager and voter protection consultants. The DVPD will work with Regional Voter Protection Directors (RVPDs) and the Organizing team to develop strong ballot cure programs and prepare for other post-election work.

In addition, this position will be responsible for monitoring all active redistricting cases and keeping relevant departments updated. The DVPD will also manage DCCC’s legislative portfolio by monitoring all developing state legislation related to voting rights in key states. Ideal candidates for this position will have an extensive background in ballot cure work as well as an ability to understand the legal landscape and interpret statutes as it relates to elections.

Responsibilities Include

  • Plan and execute a program to cure rejected ballots across the country in close coordination with the organizing and data teams;
  • Work closely with the data engineering team to identify needs and create tools for the ballot cure program and facilitate data ingestion from local election officials;
  • Plan and execute test-run cure programs in off-year and special elections;
  • Build relationships with state parties and other partners to ensure streamlined communication regarding post-election related issues;
  • Hire and manage the Ballot Cure Hotline Manager;
  • Create plan templates and training resources for RVPDs around ballot cure, absentee count observation, and post-election canvass observation;
  • Communicate regularly with outside counsel and ensure our post-election work facilitates the gathering of facts for potential litigation;
  • Become the designated subject matter expert on all redistricting litigation for the 2024 cycle;
  • Create and present all redistricting litigation/information across departments;
  • Maintain the redistricting tracker, provide quarterly updates, and work with our Analytics team to draft memos around new maps;
  • Work with counsel to develop and implement legislative priorities in targeted states;
  • Help with the day to day duties and responsibilities of the Voter Protection Director (VPD) when the VPD is unavailable or on leave.

Requirements

  • 1 cycles or 2 years experience required running ballot cure programs on political campaigns or electoral organizations;
  • Previous management experience required;
  • 2 cycles or 4 years experience preferred working in a voter protection capacity or comparative experience working with community advocacy or electoral organizations;
  • Juris Doctorate is a plus;
  • Ties to any of the following states is a plus: California, Arizona, Nevada, New Mexico, Iowa, Nebraska, Virginia, New Jersey, New York;
  • Experience liaisoning with attorneys in a voter protection capacity;
  • Ability to simplify complexity, think strategically, and anticipate problems;
  • Strong writing and communications skills required with attention to detail;
  • Familiarity with election law preferred but subject matter expertise not required;
  • Excellent organizational, management, and interpersonal skills;
  • A positive, team-oriented attitude;
