The Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee (DCCC) is the official national Democratic campaign committee charged with electing Democrats to the U. S. House of Representatives. The DCCC recruits Democratic candidates and supports Democratic campaigns – both challengers and Democratic incumbent Members – with a variety of services including field operations, fundraising support, communications assistance, digital strategy, research support and management consulting. The DCCC is supported by the contributions of individuals and organizations, along with Democratic Members, from throughout the country. We look for talented and hard-working professionals who are committed to electing Democrats and winning the House majority.
Due to the cyclic nature of our organization, all positions are subject to separation at the end of the election cycle.
Position Summary:
The Research Department at the DCCC conducts opposition research projects, rapid response, proactive attacks on Republican incumbents and challengers, and helps campaigns understand policy issues, with debate preparation, and other campaign activities. In this fast-paced office, the ability to multi-task while remaining detail-oriented is a must. For this position, previous opposition research experience is required, along with experience editing and developing research products. Research Managers will work independently on long-term research projects, while playing a key role in the department by helping manage research workflow, helping design and execute on research plans, and training junior staff.
This position is part of a collective bargaining unit.
Responsibilities Include:
- Editing and refining research products;
- Producing extensive research documents compiling information from public sources, as well as in-depth research analyzing federal, state and local governmental voting records;
- Collaborating with senior and junior research staff on the design and execution of comprehensive research plans on target candidates;
- Helping train junior research staff on research skills, resources, and best practices;
- Other duties and research projects as necessary to ensure the success of the Research team.
Requirements
- Minimum two full cycles of experience in political research required; experience in managing research projects a plus;
- Significant experience with and ability to train junior staff on Lexis-Nexis, campaign finance or public records, and/or other commonly-used research databases;
- Strong understanding of political campaigns and messaging strategy;
- Initiative to work both independently and in collaboration with the broader research team, balancing multiple projects and meeting strict deadlines while remaining highly detail-oriented;
- Excellent organizational, written and verbal communications skills;
