What are the responsibilities and job description for the Recovery Support Specialist position at DCCCA?
Available Shifts:
Full-Time: The schedule is typically 5 days per week from 11:00pm - 7:00am. Other days and hours may be required, as needed
Part-Time: 10:00pm-6:00am Monday & Tuesdays
Part-Time: 6:00am-2:00pm Saturday & Sundays
Essential Functions:
- Regular and predictable attendance
- Creates a safe client environment by performing all required security and safety procedures
- Assists in the client's orientation of treatment goals, program rules and structure
- Submits a written incident report in the event of unusual client behavior or activity while in DCCCA's care
- Assesses and resolves minor incidents during weekend and evening hours when daytime staff is unavailable
- Documents required program and client information in a timely and complete manner
- Monitors client's weekly schedule and adherence to policies and procedures related to facility/equipment usage
- Supports Counselors and other treatment providers with the coordination and implementation of client services from admission through discharge
- Supervises client performance, enforces program rules and applies the prescribed consequences for misbehavior
- Conducts and/or participates in client room searches as necessary
- Adheres to established protocol in crisis situations and notifies appropriate on-call staff members immediately
- Follows the program schedule and completes assigned tasks in a timely and complete manner
- Contributes to overall building security through routine monitoring
- Helps with client groups and facilitates client activities as requested which may include occasional transport
- Consults with members of the treatment team and other professionals as necessary and implements recommendations received to ensure quality client care
- Develops and maintains professional relationships with all clients at all times
- Enters data and assists with client billing process
- Monitors and documents clients' self-administration of clients' medication according to program policy and prescribed medical policy/procedure, conduct and document thorough and accurate medication count during each shift
- Job may require the employee to be able to regularly drive to various DCCCA locations and other business locations throughout the day including early morning or evening hours
Education and Experience
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- CPR and First Aid training and annual TB testing with a negative test result.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
- Ability to gain knowledge of and apply basic understanding of the treatment model utilized.
- Communicates clearly and is persuasive in both positive and negative environments. Reads and interprets written information. Comprehends simple instructions, correspondence and memos. Composes routine reports and remains up-to-date in correspondence. Writes clearly and informatively. Edits work for grammatical and spelling errors. Varies writing style to meet each document's goals.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Suite (including Outlook, Excel, Word) and computerized database programs.
- Ability to use standard office equipment including calculators, copy machines, fax machines, telephones, and voicemail systems.
- Ability to provide clear and timely documentation.
Physical and Other Requirements:
- Unrestricted Class C driver's license, a Motor Vehicle Record (MVR) that meets DCCCA's insurability standard, reliable personal transportation, and in force automobile liability insurance, required.
- Must successfully complete pre-employment background screening, references, fingerprint-based records search, and pre-employment drug screening.
- CPR and First Aid training; annual TB testing with a negative test result; and COVID-19 and flu vaccinations or exemptions, required.
