What are the responsibilities and job description for the Maintenance Technician - I position at DCI?
POSITION PURPOSE:
The Maintenance Technician II will work independently and with other operations personnel to perform preventative, predictive and routine machine maintenance as well as facility maintenance. The Maintenance Tech II will work closely with Production Leads to ensure adequate performance and systemization of preventive maintenance requirements for all production equipment and machinery. This position is focused on getting the job done right the first time by placing a high emphasis on quality of workmanship, accountability, safety, and teamwork.
GENERAL RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Support all continuous improvements in safety, quality, 5S and existing manufacturing processes.
- Provide feedback to leadership to help resolve quality issues or operational improvements in regards to productivity and procedural changes
- Know and abide to all company rules and policies with regards to safety and conduct, including the use and maintenance of company provided PPE.
· Embrace the cross-training culture by a willingness to learn other jobs or tasks within the facility.
· Do daily housekeeping to ensure the work area is always clean and organized.
- Flexible schedule is required in regards to overtime and start time according to work volumes.
- Ability to meet fast paced and quick changes production needs and deadlines.
PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:
· Apply basic electrical knowledge of AC/DC and other related knowledge to test and modify developmental or operational electrical machinery and electrical control equipment and circuitry in industrial or commercial plants.
· Diagnose pneumatic and hydraulic components and systems.
· Diagnose and troubleshoot cause of electrical or electronic malfunction or failure of operational equipment and perform preventative and corrective maintenance.
· Diagnose malfunctioning systems, apparatus, and components, using electrical test equipment and hand tools, to locate the cause of a breakdown and correct the problem.
· Utilize time management and maximize the use of Production breaks to conduct PM’s and repairs.
· Inspect mechanical/electrical systems, equipment, and components to identify hazards, defects, and the need for adjustment or repair, and to ensure compliance with safety codes.
· Communicate to Leadership whether continued operation of equipment could be hazardous based on machine safety barriers.
· Install and maintain CNC machine tools and related equipment.
· Adjust functional parts of devices and control instruments.
· Perform general building & facility electrical maintenance.
· Ability to meet fast paced production deadlines.
REQUIRED SKILLS:
· Basic understanding of pneumatic and hydraulic components/systems.
· Ability to interpret machine schematics and sheet metal drawings.
· Ability to write detailed repair reports and maintenance procedures as well as good verbal communications.
· Measuring and basic math.
Physical Demands:
· Frequently performing high work 20-60’ above ground.
· Frequent sitting, standing, and walking.
· Frequent laying, climbing, and balancing in or on large equipment.
· Frequent stooping, kneeling, bending, and crouching.
· Frequent lifting or pushing up to 25 lbs. with occasional lifting or pushing up to 75 lbs.
- Dexterous with both hands.
· Occasional computer and telephone use.
Work ENvironment:
· Manufacturing metal fabrication environment.
· High noise levels.
· Contact with metals, lubricants, solvents, and other miscellaneous gases.
· Exposure to dust and metal debris at the back of shop.
· Exposure to moving objects such as machinery, mechanical parts, forklifts, carts and trucks.
· Exposure to hot or cold temperature when working in areas of the building that cannot be temperature controlled (especially during summer months).
EDUCATION AND QUALIFICATIONS:
· High School Diploma or GED
· Associates degree and/or technical certifications preferred.
· 2 years of experience in the electrical/electronic troubleshooting and repairing of equipment similar to: metal shears, punches, presses, both conventional and CNC machines.
· 2 years of experience in fabrication including metal fitting, cutting, and welding.
