Who You Are
We are seeking an experienced Project Accountant to join our finance team. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in construction accounting and be proficient in Sage 300 (Timberline), Procore, and TimberScan. This role is responsible for managing financial activities related to multiple construction projects, ensuring accuracy in job cost tracking, compliance with contract terms, and timely reporting to management.
What You'll Do
Project Accounting & Financial Management
- Maintain job cost accounting for multiple construction projects, ensuring accurate and timely recording of project expenses.
- Process accounts payable (AP) and accounts receivable (AR), ensuring invoices are coded correctly and aligned with project budgets.
- Work closely with project managers to monitor budgets, change orders, and financial performance.
- Track and process subcontractor payments, lien waivers, and compliance documentation.
- Prepare and submit AIA billings, and payment applications.
- Compile and update billing rate sheets for various project phases, ensuring accurate and consistent billing based on contract terms and labor rates.
Software & Systems Managemen
- Utilize Sage 300 (Timberline) for financial reporting, job cost tracking, and general ledger management.
- Leverage Procore to integrate financial data, manage project budgets, and streamline communication between finance and operations.
- Use TimberScan for automated invoice processing and approval workflows.
Reporting & Compliance
- Generate and analyze WIP (Work-in-Progress) reports, project forecasts, and cost-to-complete reports.
- Ensure compliance with GAAP, company policies, and industry regulations.
- Assist in financial audits, providing necessary documentation and reconciliations.
Collaboration & Process Improvement
- Work closely with project managers, estimators, and operations teams to ensure financial accuracy and efficiency.
- Identify and implement process improvements to enhance financial workflows and reporting accuracy.
- Provide training and support to project teams on financial procedures and system usage.
What You Bring
Qualifications & Skills:
- 3-7 years of experience in construction accounting or project-based accounting.
- Strong knowledge of Sage 300 (Timberline), Procore, and TimberScan.
- Familiarity with AIA billing, progress draws, and construction contracts.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and financial reporting tools.
- Data savvy
- Excellent attention to detail, problem-solving skills, and ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
- Strong communication and teamwork skills.
Education & Certifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field preferred.
- CPA, CMA, or CCIFP (Certified Construction Industry Financial Professional) is a plus.
