What are the responsibilities and job description for the Scrum Master position at DCLI?
The Scrum Master will be assigned to one or more development teams. The role is primarily one of facilitator – ensuring the removal of impediments, whatever their nature, to the successful delivery of the sprint goals, and to assist the team to perform at their very best. The Scrum Master will establish and maintain sprint tracking tools such as storyboards, sprint end reporting and team performance, and will mentor the team in their agreed process through retrospectives. The ideal candidate should have experience with agile delivery and the role of scrum master with a cross-functional team. The position calls for excellent facilitation and communication skills, a desire to help others succeed, and the ability to quietly assess when and where to act as needed.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Lead and manage Scrum Ceremonies such as daily stand-ups, sprint planning, sprint reviews and sprint retrospectives, and maintain progress burn-downs.
- Identify and address obstacles that hinder the team’s progress, and work with stakeholders to resolve issues.
- Educate the team on Agile principles and Scrum practices. Facilitating the team to self organize and improve working methods.
- Protect the team from external distractions and ensure focus on assigned sprint work.
- Work closely with the Product Owner to plan the prioritized backlog into sprint backlogs.
- Promote continuous improvement and encourage the team to reflect on their process and identify areas of improvement through retrospectives.
Qualifications
- 3 years of Agile software delivery experience
- Expertise in written and interpersonal communications, relationship building, consensus building, and individual mentoring
- Excellent team facilitation skills
- Excellent organizational skills and a focus and attention to detail
- Strong problem-solving capabilities
- Fluent in Confluence and Jira administration
- BA/BS required or equivalent
- Must have excellent organizational skills with demonstrated success delivering desired results
- Certified Scrum Master
- Domain experience in the transport and logistics industry is a plus
- Must be able to pass a pre-employment drug screening.
