Senior Accountant
Our Senior Accountant is responsible for maintaining accurate and timely financial records for all twelve (12) entities within the District Cannabis organization, in accordance with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP). This individual will partner with the finance and accounting team, overseeing the day-to-day general ledger activity, ensuring compliance with internal controls.
Your role in caring for our company:
The essential functions include, but are not limited to the following:
- Ownership over the accuracy and completeness of the balance sheets for all twelve (12) entities within the District Cannabis organization.
- Partnering with the Support Center team, ensuring accurate and timely coding/payment of invoices in accordance with the internal controls and procedures.
- Ownership of the Fixed Asset module, ensuring accurate reporting or capitalization, depreciation, and amortization, including monthly reconciliations.
- Oversee the liabilities, including performing monthly transactions, accruals and reconciliations of Accounts Payable, Notes Payable, Customer Deposits, etc.
- Partnering with the Support Center accounting and finance team, ensuring accurate and timely completion of the month-end close checklist.
- Monthly preparation of financial reports, including variance reporting against budget and review with Senior Controller and CFO.
- Support the accounting team as a back-up for AP, AR, and Cash procedures.
Others
- Assist in month and year-end closings.
- Manage the annual external audit process, providing timely documentation as requested.
- Assist with special projects as needed.
- Perform ad hoc analysis and projects as requested.
- Stay up-to-date with accounting and cannabis regulations and guidance, ensuring compliance for all twelve (12) entities.
Qualifications we ask you to have:
- For legal reasons, all employees need to be at least 21 years of age.
- You will be asked to pass a Federal and State criminal history background check.
- We ask that you have a Bachelor's degree in Accounting Finance, or related field.
- CPA or CMA certification preferred, but not required.
- Have a minimum of five (5) years in an accounting/finance environment, with increasing responsibilities.
- Familiarity with relevant accounting guidance, such as ASC 842 (Lease Accounting) and ASC 606 (Revenue Recognition).
- We ask that you have solid Microsoft Excel skills (pivot tables, xlookups, charts, etc.).
- We ask that you are proficient in ERP systems and financial software.
- We ask that you have in-depth knowledge of cost accounting principles and practices.
- We ask that you haveexcellent leadership skills, with steadfast resolve, personal integrity, and business acumen.
