DCN Dx is seeking a detail-oriented and proactive Purchasing & Logistics Specialist to join our dynamic Life Sciences team. The successful candidate will manage and optimize the supply chain process, ensuring that materials, equipment, and products move smoothly and efficiently from suppliers to end-users. This role requires an individual who can handle the complexities of logistics in a manual, regulated industry, ensuring compliance with quality standards, regulatory guidelines, and industry best practices.

- Supply Chain Coordination: Manage the end-to-end logistics process, including procurement, warehousing, inventory management, transportation, and distribution of biotech materials, equipment, and finished products.
- Vendor Management: Collaborate with suppliers to ensure timely delivery of raw materials and components, while maintaining strong relationships and negotiating favorable terms.
- Regulatory Compliance: Ensure that all logistics processes comply with industry regulations such as GMP, GDP, and FDA standards. Oversee proper documentation for shipments, including import/export documentation.
- Cold Chain Management: Ensure the proper handling, storage, and transportation of temperature-sensitive biotech materials, maintaining cold chain integrity.
- Inventory Control: Monitor inventory levels and initiate procurement processes to ensure materials and products are available when needed while avoiding excess stock.
- Risk Management: Identify potential risks in the supply chain, develop mitigation strategies, and troubleshoot issues such as delivery delays, damaged goods, or vendor-related problems.
- Collaboration: Work closely with internal departments such as R&D, Quality Assurance, and Manufacturing to align logistics with the company’s overall objectives.
- Data Management & Reporting: Maintain accurate records of shipments, inventory, and deliveries, and prepare regular reports for management to track performance and optimize processes.
- Process Improvement: Continuously assess and improve logistics processes to enhance efficiency, reduce costs, and ensure seamless operations.
Required Education
Associate’s degree or greater in Supply Chain Management, Logistics, Business Administration, or a related field. Relevant certifications (e.g., APICS, CLTD) are a plus.
Required Experience
3-5 years of experience in logistics, supply chain, or operations management, preferably in the biotech or life sciences sector.
Required Skills/Knowledge/Ability
- Strong understanding of supply chain logistics, including import/export regulations, transportation modes, and inventory management.
- Comfortable in material discrepancy investigation and resolution, system vs actual inventory.
- Expert in calculating material requirements over time with or without the support of a MRP system.
- Capable of developing tools to determine material requirements, delivery schedules and action item lists (expedite, cancel, push out deliveries). Create scenarios and action plans based on best available information.
- Proficiency in MRP systems (preferably Odoo).
- Understanding of new vendor evaluation and selection, sourcing activities in the medical/pharma fields.
- Knowledge of a work order life cycle, from demand forecast to material requirements to finished goods manufacturing
Industry Knowledge
Familiarity with biotech products, lab equipment, and the regulatory requirements governing their handling and transportation.
