Dakota Carrier Network (DCN), a provider of high-speed broadband communication services, serving North Dakota customers with locations within the state and through its partnerships, has an opening at our Bismarck office for a Transport Technician. Applications will be accepted through December 9th, 2024, or until the position is filled.
Job Summary:
The Transport Technician supports DCN’s high quality, state of the art transport network working in a Network Operations Center (NOC). This position works with other technicians supporting various DWDM, SONET, and OTN platforms. This position provides after-hours support and shares on-call responsibilities with NOC technicians.
Duties/Responsibilities:
- Performs network monitoring, provisioning, trouble analysis and resolution of trouble reports, and administration of equipment.
- Provisions and troubleshoots DWDM, SONET, and OTN services and equipment.
- Interfaces with local and national telecommunications providers for the operation, administration, maintenance, and provisioning of network services.
- Assures the highest quality network service is provided to the customer.
- Installs equipment at the NOC and/or remote locations.
- Maintains working knowledge of company products and services and the telecommunications industry.
Qualifications:
- 3 years of related work experience in the telecommunications industry
- Advanced analytical and problem-solving skills
- Must be able to read and interpret technical documents
- Must be able to work independently and make sound technical decisions.
- Must maintain a valid driver's license
