Overview
DCPS is seeking a highly organized and detail-oriented Project Engineer to coordinate various construction projects from inception to completion. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in project document control, construction estimating, and contract administration. This role requires effective communication skills, plan set interpretation, contractual understanding, ensuring that all project specifications are being met.
Essential Functions :
Assist with and / or perform the following as delegated by the assigned Project Manager :
Manage contractual agreements with owners, contractors, subcontractors, material suppliers, and field staff.
Ensure documentation is completed daily, including timecards, daily reports, additional work authorizations, vendor documents, and as-built drawings.
Coordinate timely completion and thorough buyout procedures on materials and equipment, in conjunction with the superintendent and purchasing department, with emphasis on maintaining all buyout under the established budget.
Buyout, negotiate and issue all lower-tier subcontract(s), with emphasis on complete scopes in compliance with the contract documents and within the established budget.
Responsible for proper / timely processing of shop drawings, product submittals, operation and maintenance manuals, and recording all as-built drawings.
Coordinate and track take-off orders, procurement and release of change orders items with the purchasing department and superintendent(s).
Provide forecasted estimate on costs required for completion of project, outstanding extra work total costs, and amount that has been performed but un-billed, encountered busts in the bid, and pending claims.
Responsible for job closeout being performed in proper and efficient manner and keeping the project manager and vice president of operation informed of closeout status.
Optimize the profitability of the company by demonstrating the ability of a decision maker with reliable and mature judgment.
Specific Job Functions :
Submittal and Shop Drawing Management and Review
Assist Project Managers with any project correspondence
Prepare, log and manage RFI correspondence
Project start-up procedures, including permitting and plan review
Project Meeting Minutes
Attend Project Site Meetings
Preparation of Subcontracts, Purchase Agreements and Change Orders
Assemble project closeout documents including : operations and maintenance manuals (O&M), as-built drawings and warranty letters
Education and Qualifications :
Preferred : Construction Management or Civil Engineering 4 Year B.S. Degree
Proficient in MS Office Suite – Word, Excel and Outlook
Strong capabilities to multitask, work independently under pressure, and within tight deadlines.
