What are the responsibilities and job description for the Employment and Training Specialist position at DCWORKS?
ESSENTIAL JOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Develop and Deliver Workshops on various career topics (including creating workshop materials)
- Conduct Initial Assessments Interviews determining eligibility, identify potential barriers, refer customers needing supportive services, identify needs and work with customers on next steps focusing on customer choice
- Perform one-to-one and small group job readiness trainings for example, resume development assistance
- Schedule workshops for all Career Center staff
- Provide support to contracted and volunteer workshop presenters
- Update workshop calendar and keep track of participant sign ups to inform presenters if workshop will be cancelled due to low attendance, contact customers to sign up for workshops, confirm customer attendance prior to the event based on current procedures
- Work with customers to develop ITA’s and complete paperwork accurately based on current ITA policies and procedures
- Travel to sites within Dutchess County for job readiness training
- Educate customers in computer and internet assisted job search, including researching positions/companies, when able connect job seekers directly with employers
- Support the business services team: attend meetings with area businesses, work with customers on completing necessary paperwork, back-up team leader in daily duties

ADDITIONAL JOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Keeps abreast of all industry workforce trends.
- Attends training programs, conferences and meetings as required to gain industry knowledge and establish relationships with other professionals as directed by the Career Center Manager
- Performs other duties and special projects as assigned.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, ABILITIES:
- Knowledge of office administration
- Ability to operate standard office equipment
- Attention to detail with a high level of accuracy
- Excellent interpersonal, communication, and customer service skills, both written and verbal
- Knowledge of MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook
- Ability to work independently and as a team member
- Understanding of WIOA, Labor market Information, One Stop Operating System, One Stop products and services, DCWIB policies and procedures
- Strong organizational skill with the ability to multi-task
- Problem solving skills
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $26.50 - $29.00 per hour
Expected hours: 35 per week
