Telecom-Fiber Optics Splicing Foreman Pay Rate: $25-30/hour.
The Fiber Optics Splicing Foreman will oversee the day-to-day work of a crew of Fiber Splicers. Work will involve performing complex splicing operations for telecommunication installations throughout New York State working outdoors in a variety of weather conditions.
This position will be required to perform the following functions:
- Effectively lead and mentor crews responsible for splicing fiber and the installation of Outside Plant (OSP) and Inside Plant Fiber Optic/Copper Networks.
- Perform hands-on installation and dressing of fiber optic cables (vertical/horizontal).
- Monitor daily production rates, reporting hours, and supervise subcontractors to ensure the work is being performed efficiently.
- Always maintain a safe and efficient work environment.
Skills and Experience
Required:
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in a leadership/supervisory capacity
- A minimum of 3-5 years related splicing experience.
- Ability to fuse or mechanically splice SM or MM fiber optic cables to include termination of various types of fiber optic connectors (ST, SC & LC). View and print traces.
- Able to work aloft up to 50 feet in a bucket truck or ladder.
- Must be able to climb ladders, utility poles and work in manholes as needed.
- Experience with computers to update drawing and Fiber Optics Splicing documentation.
- Experience and knowledge in fiber acceptance testing.
- Possess a valid Driver’s License and have a clean driving record.
- Must be able to lift 75 lbs. repeatedly.
Preferred:
- Installation and testing of pressurized and non-pressurized closures on all types of sizes and cables experience.
- Ability to work under pressure in a fast-paced and quickly changing work environment with strict deadlines.
