Groundskeeper

Essential Functions: Groundskeepers, under the supervision of the assistant superintendent or foreman, perform routine manual labor involved in grounds maintenance; do semi-skilled grounds construction and maintenance work; operate small hand-powered equipment; and occasionally perform work involving large equipment such as tractors, loaders and mowers. Each groundskeeper may be assigned responsibility for the care and maintenance of several areas on the property and does related work as required.

Primary Responsibilities

· Operates small tools & equipment, rakes and maintains volleyball courts, blows leaves and debris from pickleball, tennis & basketball courts, and other clubhouse grounds areas.

· Removes trash, tree limbs and debris from clubhouse grounds, entrance gates, and other community areas

· Clean & maintain marina by removing trash & debris, washing bird droppings from surfaces & keep docks clean

· Maintains fuel and fluid levels for all types of equipment on a daily basis; reports equipment problems or failure to the equipment manager immediately.

· Returns all equipment to the designated location at the maintenance facility; and cleans the maintenance areas.

· Assists with installation and removal of seasonal lighting & decorations

· Waters and fertilizes flower beds, club house lawn and other community areas; and under direct supervision of a certified applicator, sprays chemicals on landscaped areas.

· Helps in project work; assists in the construction of new landscapes; grades and prepares soil base; lays sod; and seeds lawn area.

· May be asked to operate mowers, utility vehicles or other light equipment.

· Performs other duties as directed by his/her supervisor.

Payroll Status: Hourly/Non-Exempt

Reports to: Golf Course Superintendent/Assistant Golf Course Superintendent and or Foreman

Supervises: No supervisory duties are included in this position.

Qualifications:

· Knowledge methods and material used in grounds and landscape area construction/maintenance work.

· Working knowledge of and ability to use hand and power tools and equipment.

· Ability to operate trucks and light motorized equipment.

· Physical strength, stamina and agility.

· Ability to follow oral and written directions.

· Possession of a valid driver’s license.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: From $15.00 per hour

Expected hours: No less than 40 per week
