You will be responsible for providing leadership to members of propriety and contracted staff for the operational running of health, safety and the environment, audit, risk, and incident management functions for the manufacturing site. Play an active part in the wider Malta team to build a stronger organisation with Resilience at its core through effective liaison and leadership with multiple stakeholders.
To manage & improve Health, Safety and Environmental standards throughout the factory. Ensures site personnel and processes conform De la Rue’s Corporate Standards and to existing and new legislation.

To manage & improve Health, Safety and Environmental standards throughout the factory. Ensures site personnel and processes conform De la Rue’s Corporate Standards and to existing and new legislation.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage the team who investigate OHS and Environmental near misses, incidents, and accidents and to assist in risk assessments and their recording and review.
- Ensure that the site complies with established security procedures laid down within ISO requirements, the Health and Safety at work bill, Environmental requirements and any further customer related compliance requirements (such as ISO 27001, 22301 etc.).
- Accountable for delivering operational excellence throughout the department.
- Maintain and develop multiple safety and external accreditation and regulatory requirements.
- Implement & maintain through audit, a robust system that safeguards the health, safety & wellbeing of all employees, visitors & contractors and minimise site’s environmental impacts.
- Manage the applicable risk assessment programmes and related activities (generic, machinery, manual handling, COSHH, Fire, etc.
- Provide advice and guidance to the Plant manager on all relevant Health, Safety and the environment compliance related issues
- Advise on and arrange relevant H&S training aimed at reducing risk and employee development.
- Co-ordinate and run Main HSE Committee Meeting – and give input to local departmental meetings & inspections as required.
- Liaise with Head Office for specialist support and external agencies requiring HSE input.
- Review new and existing equipment to ensure H&S standards are maintained.
- Manage the team in Conducting HSE projects & process improvement activities relevant to HSE.
- Lead site in maintaining ISO certifications and all applicable permits.
- Identify sustainability improvements and lead site in the implantation of these.
- Manage HSE budgets and CAPEX projects.
- To always act and behave in a way compliant with all De La Rue company guidelines and policies, especially those relating to Environmental Health and Safety, ethics and codes of conduct.
- Bachelor degree standard of education.
- NEBOSH National Diploma in Occupational Health and Safety
- NEBOSH National Diploma in Environmental Management
