Wellness Counselor - Part Time
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
A De Marillac Academy Wellness Counselor is a talented and committed counselor who
contributes to a positive learning environment that fosters academic excellence,
socio-emotional wellness and personal growth for all students. The Wellness Counselor will
work closely with the School Counselor, the Principal and the Student and Family Services
coordinator to ensure continued support of students and communication with families. This
position is part-time, working two school days per week (16-20 hours), and will be through a
contracted partner.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Responsible for managing a caseload of students to meet regularly to check-in about
social-emotional well being;
- Assess student safety concerns and make appropriate action plans, including safety
agreements and possible referrals to outside agencies;
- Communicate with the Principal when student safety concerns arise;
- Work as part of a team of professionals utilizing a trauma-informed model to
provide holistic care for students;
- Works alongside Assistant Principal to support students' behavioral and social
emotional growth;
- Ensure accurate and timely filing of all Child Protective Services reports and notify
other school administration of these reports;
- Communicate with the school administration regularly regarding counseling needs,
areas of legal/safety concern, and other issues that require attention;
- Provide support, training and counseling for individual, group, family and/or
community crisis as needed by the school;
- Share information, strategies and techniques with teaching and counseling staff that
are helpful for students' success in the classroom.
Administrative
- Provide communication to parents of student caseload through consistent
communication;
- Maintain required documentation of services provided;
- Maintain open communication with the school principal on matters that the
principal needs to be aware of, without breaching confidentiality.
QUALIFICATIONS
- Master’s degree in Counseling, Social Work, School Counseling, Marriage & Family
Therapy or equivalent field, with necessary credential or license to providing
counseling.
- Fluent in Spanish (writing, reading & speaking) preferred but not required
- Related work experience with youth and families is a plus.

Working Conditions & Physical/Other Requirements
- Establish working relationship with faculty and staff;
- Perform any other related duties as assigned by the Principal;
- Proficient in Microsoft 365 products, Google Suite, and Google Classroom.
Compensation
Compensation is commensurate with qualifications and experience. This position is part-time,
working 16-20 hours per week, and will be through a contracted partner.
