Art 2D Teacher
de Toledo High School, a vibrant and innovative independent high school, is seeking an experienced and dynamic Art 2D and AP Art Teacher for a teaching position beginning in August 2025. The candidate must show excellent skills as a teacher, and passion for teaching Art 2D and advanced levels of studio art practice. A strong candidate will have the heart of a teacher, the passion for igniting teenagers’ curiosity, and the love for inspiring students to move outside of their comfort zones.
- Teach up to four classes per contract.
- The course subjects to be taught include Art 2D-1, Art 2D-2, AP 2D Art and Design, AP Drawing
- Enthusiasm for mission and vision of de Toledo High School and strong commitment to embrace and promote its culture.
Experience as an Art 2D teacher.
- Candidates should have knowledge of the skills needed to make art from 2D materials (with a focus on painting, drawing, and printmaking), of the history of 2D art, and the ability to combine teaching art elements and principles with the development of ideas and problem solving. For the AP Art classes, candidates must be able to teach students how to create a portfolio of works that meet the AP requirements for 2D Art and Design as well as Drawing.
- B.A. or higher equivalent degree in Studio Art or related field.
- Must be flexible, highly professional, eager to evolve as educators and enjoy working in a highly collaborative environment.
- Demonstrate ability to teach with a variety of modalities to reach different learning styles.
- Ability to communicate with high school students.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills with people at all levels and in all settings.
- Self-motivating, self-confident.
- Willing communicator and collaborator; enthusiastic team player.
- Unquestionable personal integrity, excellent judgment, sound instincts, diplomacy and patience.
