Summary:
The Behavioral Health Registered Nurse will provide care and support to clients with mental health disorders in an outpatient setting. This role ensures clients receive care through an integrated healthcare model, working with a multidisciplinary team to develop treatment plans, promote mental health education, and provide high-quality client care. Advanced knowledge in medicine and community mental health is required, obtained through experience and education.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Management: Provide medical direction, assist with hiring, task assignment, performance appraisals, and management of Medical Assistant/CNA staff.
- Assessment: Conduct comprehensive mental and physical health assessments, evaluating symptoms, behaviors, and well-being.
- Treatment Planning: Collaborate with the healthcare team to develop and implement individualized care plans, including medication management, therapy, and other interventions.
- Medication Management: Administer and monitor psychiatric medications, educate patients on medications and side effects.
- Therapeutic Interventions: Offer psychoeducation and skill-building interventions to manage mental health conditions.
- Care Coordination: Work with psychiatrists, psychologists, social workers, and external providers to develop and monitor comprehensive treatment plans.
- Patient Education: Educate patients and families about mental health conditions, treatment options, and coping strategies.
- Crisis Management: Assess and intervene in crisis situations, coordinating referrals to higher levels of care if needed.
- Health Promotion: Conduct screenings for mental health conditions and chronic illness risks, implementing interventions to prevent relapse.
- Documentation: Maintain accurate patient records and document assessments, care plans, and progress notes per healthcare regulations.
- Patient Advocacy: Ensure patients receive appropriate care and support, advocating for their rights.
- Self-care and Support: Engage in self-care strategies, seek supervision, and access resources to manage emotional demands.
- Professional Development: Stay updated on advancements in psychiatric nursing, participate in research, and contribute to the field.

Education and Experience:
- Bachelor’s or Associate’s degree in Nursing.
- Active Illinois Registered Nurse (RN) license.
- Minimum of 2 years of clinical experience in psychiatric or mental health settings preferred.
- Knowledge of psychiatric disorders, psychopharmacology, and psychotherapeutic techniques.

Certificates, Licenses, Registrations:
- RN (Registered Nurse) – Must be licensed in Illinois.

CARE & TCI:

Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $27.00 - $30.00 per hour
