As a Cancer Registrar, you will play a critical role in continuing the healing mission of Deaconess.
Job Overview
- The cancer registrar is an expert on all types of cancer
- Abstracts oncology patient records and inputs data into designated software system.
- Completes case-finding and follow-up of reported cancer cases.
- Ensures accurate and timely reporting of cancer cases to the State, as required by law.
- Maintains records of the Cancer Registry following the guidelines of the American College of Surgeons, Commission on Cancer.
- Compiles and submits data to the National Cancer Data Bank.
Licensure / Certifications / Education: Certified Oncology Data Specialist (ODS-C) preferred. Associate Degree in Cancer Registry management (CRM), Health Information Management (HIM) or associates degree with college level anatomy and physiology required with Certification by National Cancer Registrars Association immediately following eligibility. Experience: Cancer Registry experience preferred.
