Job Overview:
The Clerical Associate (CA) coordinates daily unit functioning to assist RN, physician, ancillary and support staff to provide high quality patient care. They also provide superior service to all internal and external customers. The CA must be able to demonstrate the proper use of communication devices to carry out unit functioning. The ability to communicate technical and regulatory requirements to key stakeholder groups, including patient and family, accurately and in a service-oriented manner is required.
Unit Description:
The Surgical Observation Unit at the Gateway Campus is a 13-bed unit where patients can be observed, treated, and diagnosed. Based on test results, a patient will either be admitted to another inpatient unit or discharged within an 8-24 hour window. Clinical staff will have the opportunity to care for a wide range of diagnoses while demonstrating critical thinking and time management skills in a fast paced environment. As part of the Surgical Observation Unit, staff will work closely with patients and families in a rewarding environment by coordinating results and communicating with the Deaconess Care Team.
Required: Certifications/Licenses/Education:
- Basic Life Support: Health Care Provider, within six months of hire.
- Completion of a high school education or equivalent (GED) preferred
- Successfully complete PCT classes as required by care center/unit.
