Patient Transporters at Deaconess will work in a fast paced environment where they are responsible for transporting patients in the hospital to any tests or procedures that are being performed within the facility. Patient Transporters will also assist patients at time of discharge from the hospital. They will be trained to safely move patients using equipment such as wheelchairs, carts and beds.
The Patient Transport Department operates from 7a to 10p across various shifts, 7 days/week. Within the Deaconess Patient Transport department, we strive to help our staff be successful and confident with any position they hold. New Patient Transporters will be in training for a minimum of 2 weeks and will be trained on departmental practices and protocols.

- Full-time and Part-time employees must work every other weekend and rotating holidays.
- No experience needed.
- Must be able to stand for long periods of time and be able to push, pull, and lift up to 50 lbs.
- Must be able to read and write.
- Must have reliable transportation.
- Must have good attendance.
- Must have a positive attitude, good communication skills, and good work ethic.
- Must be able to work independently.
- Must be able to speak English fluently and be able to communicate effectively.
