SUMMARY OF THE JOB
The Team Lead I will assist the Practice Manager to assure all Deaconess Heart Group providers and clinical staff meet licensing and regulatory standards of Deaconess Health System. The Team Lead I is responsible for the leadership, coordination and management of the daily operations of clinical personnel of the department they are over. The Team Lead I assures that the practice functions efficiently to support the physicians and/or midlevel providers in providing safe and compassionate patient care.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES (50%)
Job Duties include the following:
- The Team Lead I must be able to demonstrate knowledge of growth and development to provide patient care appropriate to the age of the patients served.
- The Team Lead I must be able to successfully demonstrate the staff requirements as specified in the department’s competencies and Scope of Service (if applicable) and meet/exceed standards as identified below and meet the requirements of the applicable state Nurse Practice Act.
- Provides accurate and timely procedure scheduling with minimal errors.
- Confers with the patient and physician regarding scheduling priorities for acute and routine visits.
- Maintains an adequate number of supplies in each exam room.
- Restocks department supplies, monitors supply usage, and requests to have supplies reordered in a timely manner.
- Maintains daily control logs for Compliance including but not limited to daily refrigerator/freezer temperatures, waive testing controls, and daily disinfecting of exam tables, work surfaces and equipment.
- Adheres to all policies for compliance with ISDH, OSHA, CLIA, HIPAA, HFAP and any other appropriate regulatory agencies.
- Utilizes universal precautions in handling infectious/hazardous waste material.
- Maintains current knowledge base and stays current with healthcare trends by reading professional journals/literature, attending CMEs, and completing all required Web Inservice’s, and seminar/conference attendance as approved by the Practice Manager.
- Reads and replies to e-mails in a timely manner.
- Attends staff and other meetings as required.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
- Complies with Standards of Employee Conduct as specified by Policy 45-19.
- Maintains astute physical assessment skills of Cardiovascular and Pulmonary Systems
- Utilizes nursing judgement to determine severity of patient problems, responding to urgent situations and determining what interventions are needed to assist the patient consulting with MD or mid-level as indicated.
- Responsible for communications with referring physicians and other providers.
- Communicates with hospital-based staff to assure effective, efficient care to the patient, providing excellent transitions of care to the ambulatory setting.
Additional Administrative Duties
- Performs initial staff interviews, including administration when necessary.
- Follows Deaconess Health System and DSP P&Ps and counsels’ staff, consulting Human Resources as necessary.
- Maintains staff schedule ensuring adequate coverage for clinic operations.
- Maintains employee payroll in DHS timekeeping system.
- Performs employee competencies at the introductory evaluation period and annually thereafter.
- Completes introductory and annual evaluations in DHS performance manager system according to health system policy.
- Conducts staff meetings with departmental area.

Education and Experience
- Five years of directly related experience, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Cardiac experience preferred, not required.

- Current CPR Certification
